These last twenty-three hours
Have brought a lingering fight
Who knew so much could be lost
By the end of a typical night?
These last twenty-three hours
Have made it so hard to breathe
And I'm too tough to surrender
To this urge to grieve
What will I do in the morning
When the pain is still fresh and alive?
What will I do in the morning
When it's all I can do to survive?
What will I do when my heart starts to crack
And bleeds all over the floor?
Right now, I have nothing to hold to
So I'm waiting on hour twenty-four
These last twenty-three hours
Have carried with them bitter tears
And I'm convinced I could fill up
The holes in these now empty years
These last twenty-three hours
Have taken much more than they left
And now I am stuck here, trying to cope
With this new sense of loss and regret
What will I do in the morning
When the hurt goes as deep as my soul?
What will I do in the morning
When loss is the one thing I know?
What will I do when my heart starts to crack
And bleeds all over the floor?
Right now, I have nothing to hold to
So I'm waiting on hour twenty-four
The time that seemed to go by so quickly
Seems to have come to a stop
And suddenly all I can see with these eyes
Are the slow-moving hands of the clock
Will tomorrow be lost?
What will I do in the morning
When the tears finally come and invade?
What will I do in the morning
When all I have known slips away?
What will I do when my heart starts to crack
And bleeds all over the floor?
Right now, I have nothing to hold to
So I'm waiting on hour twenty-four
