Joe Henry made the cut again?  WTF?

That "F" stands for "freak,"  by the way.
Well, as I said in the article, it's not officially eligible. I just tacked it on at the end because, frankly, it's the album I've listened to the most this year.

I like bloop's list. His top 30 shares 5 or 6 entries with my Top 15, which I've posted here. I'd still like to hear the Bjork album, and after listening to Buleberry Boat again the other day, I can definitely say that it's growing on me. I have to be in a weird mood to listen to that one. It made excellent background music for video game playing, that's for sure.

bloop, I'd definitely recommend that you listen to the Caedmon's Call album. You mentioned somewhere that you regretted not listening to as much CCM in 2004, and while I don't think you were missing too much (given the things I know you like - not a diss!) with most of it, I think you'd appreciate that record. Josh might, too. Probably won't be Top 10 material for either of you, but I think it's an extremely tight and surprisingly literate record for a band that had been threatening to plunge into the depths of predictable AC pop only one album ago.

The Metacritic top of 2004.  Kind of an idea of critical concensus.  Interesting, and not half bad.

I've finished my year-end stuff as well. It blew into a feature....

Looking Closer's 2004 Top 10 list has been posted, and it's... eerily similar to mine.

I'm glad I posted mine so far in advance; otherwise, I'd probably seem like a total copycat.

But anyway, I obviously think it's a great list since it's so close to mine, although I'm a little puzzled by how low the OtR album ranks.

What is your opinion on his take on R.E.M.'s release?  It's at the bottom of the page.

I think he's right on the money. Around the Sun is, for this diehard REM fan, one of the most disappointing and astonishingly half-hearted albums in recent memory. I can't think of another album that has so clearly showcased a talented band losing sight of their vision, their creativity, and their energy.

Around the Sun is, for me, a C-/D+ level recording, and it sounds like Jeffrey would rank it somewhere in that area, too.
