I am, of course, JC.

Yeah, baby, you know your stuff. You speak in riddles and confuse people for fun. Still,
this hurts your social skills a lot... and you end up always appearing arrogant and rude.

Yeah, you have a way of letting everyone know how you

sometimes you make no sense! You aren't always sure of yourself, and you can change your mind about
things, something you actually consider a strength. You can take solitude, especially with some music.

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:

I originally got Martin Luther, which is good because I respect him. Some of those questions didn't really have any answers that I felt were "me," so I took it again and got this:

"We reject the false doctrine that the church could have permission to hand over the form
of its message and of its order to whatever it itself might wish or to the vicissitudes of the
prevailing ideological and political convictions of the day."

You are Karl Barth!
You like your freedom, and are pretty stubborn against authority! You don't
care much for other people's opinions either. You can come up with your own fun, and
often enough you have too much fun. You are pretty popular because you let people have their
way, even when you have things figured out better than them.

Interesting quiz, yo.

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.

Indeed, although it bears mentioning that the questions seem to focus on personality more than theology.

on impulse I felt like looking for a book by Augustine to read. I had read City of God several years back and remember finding it pretty interesting and readable so I ordered Confessions through half.com.

I'm whatever this is:

"It is the chiefest point of happiness that a man is willing to be what he is."

You are Desiderius Erasmus!

You have great love for others and will do just about anything to show it to them. You are tolerant
and avoid confrontations, so people generally are drawn to you. You are more quiet and reserved in
front of strangers, but around some people you open up. When things get tough, you like to meditate
alone. Unfortunately you often get things like "what a pansy," or "you're such a liberal."

Can someone tell me what "'what a pansy' or 'you're such a liberal."' means exactly?   Wink

I don't think you're rude, just quiet. I'm one to speak...lol But no one really ever knows who a quiet person is unless they care to find out. Unfortunately, it usually appears silence is arrogance. sad  wacko

I'm Augustine I guess.  I know I don't share his kind of nutty theology of sexual pleasure, but hey, he was a great thinker anyway.

My favorite Martin Luther story:

Luther struggled with depression throughout his life. At one point, he was acting especially despondant and melancholy, as if nothing in the world was going his way. This lasted for days.

One morning, he entered the kitchen and saw his wife dressed in black funeral attire. "Who died?" Luther inquired. His wife replied, "Well, by the way you've been acting, I had assumed that God had died."

What a great lesson in the sovereignty of God! You go, Mrs. Luther.

I got Augustine, as well.  Though after watching Bonhoeffer tonight, and having read some of his writings, I wish that he had been an option, and that I could be like him.
"This is the end--but for me, the beginning--of life."  He said this as he was led away to be hanged, naked, from the gallows of a Nazi prison.  Life indeed.

Cool story, Josh.  Did you know that Mrs. Luther was a former nun, and that Luther broke with his monk's vows to marry her?  Well, he'd already been excommunicated by that point, but still.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was one swell guy. I, too, would like to resemble him Smiley
