Well, we're halfway through 2004 already, so this might be a fitting time to discuss our picks for the song of the year so far.
My vote: "Reflecting Light," by Sam Phillips.
Honorable mentions:
Ron Sexsmith-- "Whatever it Takes" Sarah Harmer-- "Dandelions in Bulletholes" Sam Phillips-- "One Day Late" Sufjan Stevens-- "To Be Alone With You" Kate Rusby-- "Falling"
Anyone else?

Hmmm...these are some of my favorites so far this year, but I'd need to go back and look at the new music more closely. Most of the best music I've bought this year has been older stuff.

My vote: "Reflecting Light," by Sam Phillips. I might agree with you if I could read the lyrics. *cough, cough, nudge* I can't separate that song from my warm and fuzzy feeling I get because I associate with the scene from Gilmore Girls in which it was used. *sigh*

Five Iron Frenzy-On Distant Shores Probably my vote. I get all emotional when I listen to that song. God has spoken to me through that song and it has become my theme song

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:
Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.
Chuck Norris can divide by zero.
Chuck Norris CAN believe it's not butter.

Oh goodness...I always find that I have to opt out of song ranking. It's just so nitty gritty.
What the heck, Xiu Xiu - "I Luv the Valley". I'm not promising to stick to it, though.

I hate ranking songs because my opinion of them changes so much and I'm bound to forget some. I'd rather do whole albums...anyways.

These songs have struck me as standing out from the rest...
"Gravity" - Shawn McDonald "You Were There" - Avalon "Breathe On Me" - Natalie Grant "Mind Blowin'" - GRITS (but I'm no authority on Hip Hop) "You Don't Know" - Kierra KiKi Sheard "Alive" - Tonex "Disappear" - Bebo Norman

Oh, fine. Here's a few.
"Glass in the Trees," Dead Poetic "Breakdown in 3/4," Project 86 (!!!) "Song of Faith," Haste the Day "Where the Sun Never Dies," blindside "I Play Dead," Demon Hunter
There are others--especially from P86 and blindside--but those will do for now. I can't think of any others at the moment.
