Hey, look all! I started a topic.  =D

Part of the reason I posted this was because this type of music is never mentioned. So, I though I'd spice up things a bit.

Jazz. What can I say? That will be *the music* we'll be listening to in heaven. Okay, a bit extreme, but I love jazz. It's good chill music, good driving music, just good music (not all of it mind you). I don't know if there are any jazz lovers out there, but last week I picked up Miles Davis' critically acclaimed Kind of Blue. Wow. I love it! It's great. It is a must have for jazz collectors. The music is simply gorgeous. The arrangements are lovely. Ahhhh. Jazz.

Any favorite jazz musicians? I love Louis Armstrong. He has to be my favorite right now.

Or for those of you who don't like jazz...what's the turn off? What do you think of when you see jazz and good music in the same sentence.

Discuss.   Smiley

I've just recently been getting into jazz music. I don't really know my jazz artists too well but I do know that I find the music to be quite fun and enjoyable. Definitely a genre I want to explore more.

Me three! I don't know anything about jazz, but when I hear it, I usually like it. One of my favorite Radiohead songs is the jazz influenced "Living In A Glass House." Also, I love the Cosby show.

Kelli- I think that would be good introduction to improv or free form jazz. Kind of Blue is really good.

Personally, I like big band a lot. (That's the categorie Louis Armstrong "Satchmo" falls in.) I myself have a lot exploring to do! I think the next jazz artist on my list to buy is Billie Holiday. Boy, can she sing!  Wink

(Yeah, I like the Cosby Show too.  laugh )

YES! Kind of Blue is one of my favorite records! Everyone should hear it; it's beautiful, exhilirating music.

And yeah, the jazz stuff on "Cosby" is great. Bill Cosby is a hero of mine.

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:

Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

Chuck Norris CAN believe it's not butter.

I've always been curious about fusion jazz.  And big band.  I really liked that song in the credits of "Finding Nemo", which was big bandy.  I wonder who it was....

Another Miles Davis classic, "Bitch's Brew", has some great jazz fusion but I agree with Josh on this one.  "Kind of Blue" is a great one to start with.  I lost my copy, and I lament every moment I think about that.   Sad
