The second topic I posted! In one day! Woo hoo.  laugh

Here's another group I recommend. Yes, the greatest pop duo ever from the turbulent 1960s: Simon&Garfunkel.

The reason this duo is on my mind is because I recently bought their 1968 album (and what critics call their best, and I can't disagree yet), "Bookends". I definitely suggest it to any music lover.

Highlights: great vocals, great harmonies, deep insightful lyrics, dynamic music, and lovely arrangments. They're folk/rock with pop flavors and they're good at what they do.

Best songs (imho): Fakin' It, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Mrs. Robinson, Sounds of Silence, Cecelia, At the Zoo, America, The Boxer, and Scarborough Fair/Canticle.

Thoughts? Comments? As you can probably guess, I really like these guys. If the Beatles weren't my favorite group of the 60s, they would be.

Discuss.   B)

My favorite 60s artist is Dylan, followed by the Beatles and Nick Drake, but I love the Simon and Garfunkel songs that I've heard. Great harmonies, great musicianship.... it's great music to relax to.

I'll have to check out one of their full albums sometime. Should I start with Bookends?

Yeah. Bookends is a good one to start with. The 2nd tracks kind of weird and there's a track with a bunch of old people talking. But it's filled with a load of good songs.

Haven't heard many of their songs.  In fact, I haven't even heard "Bridge Over Troubled Waters", though I have heard of it a lot.  I've always thought that they were supposed to be kind of cheesy, though. :P   Maybe thats not true.

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:

Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

Chuck Norris CAN believe it's not butter.

Cheesy? Really? Nope, not in my opinion. But people have different tastes, so...

oh yesh, simon and garfunkel, definately one of my favorite 60's bands(with Dylan and the Beatles)

cheesy heck no!

They rock, the're poems like Dylan's but sung a whole lot better.

Quote
...
"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"
"We smoked the last one an hour ago"
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field
...
from America, a beautiful song indeed

Yes, One of Dylan's major innovations was bringing acceptance for dubious vocals to pop/rock music because the lyrics were so good.  haha.

I like Simon and Garfunkel, but I don't really own anything of theirs.  I think my parents liked them...really digging back into my memories for this.
