I like numbers and since Josh hates them I will be a Rebel.
--> Just joshin you, Josh.

The real reason I am doing this is because I really am interested in how far of a reach this site is really getting and since Josh doesnt want to know exactly, I'll findout by asking people who might have a good guess, the true hearted phorumors. :D

Be truthful please and back-up your answer with words and maybe some more numbers! Smiley

And when you post say your state of residence - I wonder how many different states visit this site?

I'm from TN - the home TRB Creators.

I tried to say the right things in the right way, but  simple silence is the only way to conclude my attempt.

Ponderings and then restatements from both sides will cause more of the same.

So remember: Stan, yes, this man, gave his best and is leaving it up to you and Him to do the rest.

Call me cocky, but I put my money on the big bad boy: 201+. We've got a pretty wide readership, and I'd say we've almost certainly cleared that mark.

But I could be wrong.

Do you think really, that you have had 2000 return visitors? - maybe my answer #s are too low!

How many people have put work into TRB?

Yeah, I really do feel pretty confident about my vote. But I'm not offended by yours or anything. You may be closer to the bullseye than I am; we'll see how the rest of the voting goes!  laugh

As for how many people have worked on it... I'll say around 10 or 12, excluding pholks who have contributed one or two poems and then disappeared.  ph34r

I just checked the site stats, and I'm sure Josh is right. We average over 100 uniques per day, and even if you count some of those as dialup users with non-static IPs we're still right around 100. I'm sure at least 75% of those are 'regulars,' but I'd be willing to bet that of the other 25%, at least half of them are non-regulars who visit off and on. So figuring that this cycle has been continuing for the two years that the Base has been around (though granted our readership hasn't always been that high), and we've surely gotten over 200 who have visited more than once.

Our 100 uniques per day aren't going to set any records, but it is pretty good, especially for a non-commercial site that's been around for only two years.

I'm tempted to try and get some high-volume site to plug us, but if (for example) we were linked by ZDnet or penny arcade and their ilk it would probably exceed our bandwidth capacity and bring our site to its knees. It has been known to happen.

Excuse my lack of all computer knowledge, but what in this world do you mean by the TRB's probability of exceeding the bandwidth capacity? Does the site have a limit of the number of visitors it can handle? Please help my poor confused brain. Sad

Yes, Due to Homestead, we can only have a certain amount of visitors before it self-distructs... actually, I don't know what would happen, but something bad... however, I just checked our bandwidth and we've only filled 748MB of the 5120MB that we are allowed... that's still less than 25% of the whole thing, AND it resets on the 12th of every month, so that's about as high as it gets in a month.

So I think we'd be safe if penny arcade linked us unless they have about 10,000 visitors that would click on the link within a month.

Penny Arcade gets about 100,000 visitors a day...

Stan: yes, Homestead (and Homestead is not unique in this respect; everyone makes you pay for badwidth) only gives us a certain amount of transfer before they shut our site down for the month. It's expensive to install and maintain hing-bandwidth lines and high-capacity servers, so that cost gets passed along to those who buy hosting with the site. Some hosts do offer "unlimited" bandwidth (meaning that it's limited, but only by the hardware capacity), but if you think the Base is expensive, a lot of these hosting solutions go for over $400 a month...

Yeah, any site administrator (AKA, Mark, Josh, and I) can check the stats to see a lot of cool stuff. Most hosts provide this service to webmasters so they can see usage statistics and that sort of thing.
