Ohmysweetword, the Narnia trailer was WONDERFUL.
Loved Aslan. Loved, loved, loved Aslan. All the creatures looked beautifully real, instead of all cheesy and fake. The actors playing the children looked quite suitable.
White Witch was the only thing I wasn't real keen on [plus a few minor scenery gripes], but hopefully that'll smooth out in the films...

it's like God himself is coming home to say: "I, I can do anything, if you want me here. and I can fix anything, if you'll let me near. where are those secrets now (that you're just scared to tell)? I'll whisper them all aloud so you can hear yourself."

Harry Potter looks like it will continue in the vein of TPOA and satisfy my Harry POtter movie craving. I disliked the first two with a passion, but the last one was very good.
Narnia, I've already watched it so many times. I love it... and the CG looks cool. But, why does the White Witch have dreads? Is she secretly Rasta?

Cinderella Man looks great. Ron Howard directing. Cast including Russell Crowe, Renee Zellwegger, and the great Paul Giamatti. Also The Lords of Dogtown is a must see for anyone (even if you aren't into skateboarding).

EWWWW! I can't imagine a more off-putting trailer than Cinderella Man, which has made me more convinced than ever that I'd rather see pretty much anything else. Ron Howard is perhaps my least favorite film director, Russell Crowe and Renee Zellwegger are Oscar whores, and yeah, it looks like it's gonna sweep the Oscars. Which is, I'm sure, exactly what Howard made it to do.

Yahoo! added the trailer for The Constant Gardener the other day. I was pretty interested in it before, but the trailer really does nothing for me. Still, Ralph Fiennes is a great actor who has impressed me in everything I've ever seen him in and Rachel Weisz was wonderful in Runaway Jury and About a Boy (although some of her past roles have been questionable at best).

I saw the Willy Wonka trailer today, and I could not have been more disappointed. Depp's look moved past idiosyncratic and into freaky. The kids were uninspiring and even the Oompa-loompas didn't seem compelling at all.
I saw a different War of the Worlds trailer, though, and got even more psyched. I'm pretty sure it's going to be good, though certainly differing from the book in many respects. I am interested to see how Spielberg handles some of the plot elements in the translation from page to screen.
Other memorable trailer events: the Dukes of Hazzard trailer looked stupid and offensive. The trailer for The Island seemed interesting, but it looked like they gave away the entire plot in the preview. And I'm sure Josh will be thrilled to hear that his favorite actor, Colin Farrell, is starring in a re-re-re-retelling of Pocahontis' story. I misremember the name, but I think it's "The New World" or something like that.

It's nearly impossible to tell what The New World will be like from the trailer. I'm not that interested in it, although Christopher Plummer is a very distinguished actor and Colin Farrell isn't completely talentless, as evidenced by his turns in Phone Booth and even The Recruit. I just figured out recently that Christian Bale's also in the movie.
The only thing that makes me apprehensive about The Island is Michael Bay. Gross. Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, on the other hand, are an exciting combination.
I think the new War of the Worlds trailer is much better than any of the other ones. The Tom Cruise media blitz has diminished my interest in the film somewhat, just because I'm so frickin' sick of him, and plus I loathe Dakota Fanning's acting. I still want to see it, though, partially out of interest in the subject matter and partially out of a twisted sense of loyalty to Spielberg.

I too love Cameron Crowe, and I like Kirsten Dunst and Alec Baldwin, but I just don't like Orlando Bloom for this at all. He's fine in supporting roles but proved in Kingdom of Heaven he can't carry a movie. Of course, this looks like more of an ensemble sort of thing. The trailer makes it look sort of drippy, but I'm still anxious to see it.

Saw this before War of the Worlds and was pretty impressed. It's not normally the sort of thing I'm interested in plot-wise but I agree it looked great and I'll probably see it. Also saw a different Charlie and the Chocolate Factory trailer that was much better than the past ones. I'm much more excited about it now, even though I was pretty anxious to see it before. I don't think anyone's mentioned the ultra-bad trailer for Dark Water yet. Why is Jennifer Connelly wasting her time with movies like this? I loved her in A Beautiful Mind and House of Sand and Fog, so this is just disappointing.

A couple trailers worth mentioning: Shopgirl, the upcoming adaptation of Steve Martin's novel of the same name, starring Martin, Claire Danes, & Jason Schwartzman (and it looks great)... and In Her Shoes, the new movie from Curtis Hanson, who directed Wonder Boys and L.A. Confidential. (And 8 Mile, which I try to block out.)

Two For the MoneyI so wouldn't be interested if I wasn't such a huge Pacino fan - it looks like such a quintessential Pacino role, too, and the whole premise seems way too similar to The Recruit. (Which was in itself mediorce.) The storyline doesn't really interest me. I don't like Matthew McConaughey either. But I'm telling you, I LOVE that moment where Pacino grabs McConaughey and says "If you want something from me, you're gonna have to rip if out of my talons." LOVE that - it's so Michael Corleone. I'll see it. (And probably regret it later.)

Memoirs of a Geisha trailer, link courtesy of Jeffrey Overstreet's blog. I'm still skeptical about Marshall, but from that it looks like he stayed faithful to the spirit of the book. I hope so, because adapted correctly, it has the potential to be a really unique epic. Such a great story. It looks like it's going to be gorgeous, which I expected because for all of Chicago's faults, it was visually stunning. I love Michelle Yeoh, in general and for the role of Mameha - obviously Zhang's the star and the more popular younger actress, but Yeoh's presence always radiates grace and beauty. I hate the music in the trailer - hopefully that's not the theme or anything. It's so overbearing.

What was surprising to me wasn't the presence of dinosaurs qua dinosaurs as much as my lack of knowledge about the source material. It's been around so long that I figured the whole cliche shtick about him attacking New York and stuff was all there was to it.

Lord of War, starring Nicholas Cage. It actually looks like it could be something interesting, but it releases next week and has somehow managed to fly completely under my radar until now. Where exactly did this come from? Serenity, which I think looks boring and a little ridiculous, but that's probably because I've never seen Firefly and have no real interest in doing so. Overstreet seems prepared to give this a rave review, though, so it looks like something I might rent in the future.

Trust me... you'll be hearing A LOT about this film from Overstreet and the CT Movies gang. You can be sure that it'll place on his year-end Top 10 list, based on what he's said about it thus far.

Right now, there's no movie I'm more excited about than Match Point.
Critics are saying it's Woody's best film in, like, 20 years. At least. Some are even saying it's on par with his classics from the 70s and 80s. Plus, it's got Scarlett in it.
And Woody's already started filming his next film-- also starring Scarlett. A good sign for their chemistry.
And the trailer looks awesome.
