I'm uploading "More Adventurous" by Rilo Kiley, from the album of the same name. Can y'all play the .m4p format?
Listening to "Shelter Me Lord" right now... "Who Is It" is up next.

Dv, I need to find a program that plays those .ogg files; apparently, iTunes doesn't. Can you point me to a quick, free download?

Bethany, I can't play your song, either. I think I have suitable software, but it tells me that I am not authorized to play the track on the computer, and prompts me for my name and password. Perhaps because you downloaded it off of iTunes?

Schil is apparently using a WInAmp plugin, so you might want to check into that. Bethany, I can't play your song, either. I went and downloaded the appropiate plugin in for XMMS, compiled it, and found that I couldn't play the file. It's nice to see thats its due to DRM and not to my technical incompetence.

Ok, I have uploaded a live version of the same song by Rilo Kiley, "More Adventurous" (I think the title is something weird with a bunch of numbers at the beginning in the pub, sorry about that). And I am currently uploading another song, the title track from their "Execution of All Things" (they make good title tracks, what can I say?) Hopefully these ones'll work for you guys. Let me know a) if they work and b) what you think of them.

I'm in the process of uploading Buddy Miller's cover of Mark Heard's "Worry Too Much." It's not the best track on the album-- you'll have to buy the CD for that-- but hopefully it'll whet your appetites for some more of Buddy Miller's country/rock/gospel goodness.

Looks like the pub is still up. If you have suggestions for other web-based scripts in the line of the Pub Contents one, let me know (though obviously I can't do anything on it until Monday at the earliest). .ogg files are playable with Winamp ( www.winamp.com) with an included plugin. WMP won't play them because MS is still pimping their .wma file format as the be-all-end-all, and iTunes won't play them because Apple is obsessed with proprietary formats and .ogg is certainly not proprietary. .m4p files are generally playable by everyone with a decent audio player, but unfortunately they have some crappy content protection built in, one of the reasons I hate iTunes (hint: use iTunes to burn the files to CD and use CDEX to rip them into mp3, then upload them to the pub...)

"Relative Ways" is by ...Trail of Dead "Cabin Essence" is by Brian Wilson
I'm not sure of the rest, but I agree.
Let's just all go with (screen name)Artist Name - Song Title.mp3/ogg/mp4/whatever, if possible. I just seems logical to me.

have you guys heard the song "The Weight" by The Band? I hadn't heard it until the Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue show, but I really like it and have read quite a few comments to the effect that their rendition is the best. I'm uploading it now...see what you think.
I apologize for the excessive length of the track and applause. I don't have a way to edit it.

For some reason, I can't seem to change the names of the songs once I've uploaded them. Using Filezilla in Windows, the ftp command and gFTP in Linux, all give me the same results.

I'm assuming Vlad is having connection issues, since I can't get in right now. I hope not, since I wasn't even there at that time. NTC (my crappy ISP) may have been having connection issues According to the log, the FTPd has been running since the 30th, though it doesn't indicate whether or not the computer was online the entire time. And yes, I am back in my apartment now, so no more 24/7 access. I know, I spoil all your fun I decided to copy an Iona song that some of you may not have heard--it's called Too Small of Pieces, and it comes from the Xenogears soundtrack. Iona is a spiffy-cool band, and this song is incredibly excellent even for them. Give it a listen. I encoded it to mp3 from the wma version that I had, so apologies for the dodgy quality...

I have Xenogears, I love Xenogears, and I didn't even know that song was by Iona. I even had an mp3 of that song many moons ago. It's a little surprising that a Christian artist would have a song on a video game with some of the themes that one has.
I thought it was "Small Two of Pieces" though.

I thought it was "Small Two of Pieces" though. That name is from the official soundtrack CD. Sounds like poorly translated Japanese either way... Ironically, that song was my first introduction to Iona. I loved that song (but didn't know who sang it). Then my brother, Mark, was playing his Iona CD Journey Into the Morn, and when "Irish Day" came on, I was like "dang, they sound like whoever sang 'Too Small of Pieces.'" So I did some independent verification, and sure enough, it was them. So a very secular video game introduced me to one of my favorite Christian bands. Odd o_O

Yeah, I found out about the Xenogears thing a few years back when a friend made me listen to the soundtrack on a long drive, and during a few songs I was like, "Hey, this sounds like this band Iona that I've been wanting you to check out." Now I've converted that friend into another huge Iona fan.
I think the Xenogears stuff was just Joanne, though, not the entire band, though some of the instrumentals seem similar to Iona's work.

As far as the server knows, you aborted those transfers yourself: [10/4/2004 8:34:40 PM] [136] User "phorum" logged in. [10/4/2004 8:35:31 PM] [136] User "phorum" began downloading "/(Vlad!) Iona - Too Small of Pieces.mp3". [10/4/2004 8:37:41 PM] [136] Download aborted. [10/4/2004 8:43:59 PM] [136] User "phorum" began downloading "/(harenil) Wake - East West.mp3". [10/4/2004 8:46:10 PM] [136] Download aborted.
Obviously you didn't do that, so either NTC is screwing with me or your client/ISP is having problems. I just restarted the FTP daemon, and then I used Firefox from my laptop to get in and download a file (via the internet, not my private LAN), so I think everything is working on the server end.

I have added Pub information to the PhAQ...it's not 100% complete, but it gives the basics.
When the last pub was running, people rarely commented on songs that they didn't think were top-notch or rock-bottom. I'm assuming the same trend is continuing here. I'm just glad that people are liking Daft Punk, since I think that's the most comments I've gotten on anything that I have uploaded.

Re: new songs
She Cries (the East West remix) was fairly decent. On the other end of the spectrum, Revelator didn't grab me at all. Not my style, I guess. And there has been a rash of people uploading songs without taking credit for them; in the case of whoever uploaded that Starship song, you made a good move: if I knew who you were, I would quite possibly shoot you.
I have been finding some most excellent Evanescence music that I haven't heard before on Soulseek (as well as a few which are, admittedly, less than excellent). I reluctantly took down Blondie and uploaded a short instrumental piece called Ascention of the Spirit.

I lament the fact that I'm not a part of the pub. This is due to several reasons: 1) I probably wouldn't have a clue how to get it to work. 2) I have dial-up 3) I don't have enough time

I'll be uploading Living Sacrifice's Ignite here in a moment. I love how Bruce's voice is a lot gruffer than it was on previous albums, though I love those too.
Project 86's Safe Haven is coming next too.
I took down the Dream Theater and Celldweller songs, BTW.

I just downloaded a few songs and will be listening to them shortly. just finished uploading Patty Griffin's "Making Pies". I wanted to upload something from her unreleased cd, Silver Bell, but now I see the song is on 1000 Kisses, and that's the one I had uploaded. oh well, I'll leave it on the pub anyway until I think of something else to upload. it's one of my favorite songs of hers.

I didn't really like Ignite or the Tom Watts song, but Making Pies and Safe Haven were both good songs.
I was trying to find another Daft Punk song for you pholks who liked H,B,F,S, but that's the best of the album (over half of the songs on which do not actually have lyrics). So I chose something different instead that I'm hoping at least bloop will dig: a rock interpretation of the Final Fantasy VI battle music. It's instrumental, but it's totally sweet. Even if you're not a fan of the game (which is quite possibly the best SNES game ever), you should try it out ^_^
