Man oh man... as I've said many times before, 2004 has been, for me, perhaps the greatest musical year EVER. And it looks like 2005 is going to be another great year for new releases. Just look at what we've got on the calender:
Over the Rhine (March) Bob Dylan (Summer/Fall) Sam Phillips (Fall?) T-Bone Burnett (January) Lauryn Hill (Spring?)
... and it wouldn't surprise me if we hear from Elvis Costello, David Bowie, and Joseph Arthur, as well.
Anybody else know of any promising new releases we have to look forward to next year?

Nothing any of you would be interested in, but I'm pumped about Still Remains and Haste the Day's new projects.

Switchfoot in May Jars of Clay (Redemption Songs) in March
....and i doubt it'll happen but i'm still hoping for Word to do some other Sixpence retrospective project. A real one, this time....there were rumors out about a full b-side disc and a full tribute album. I doubt we'll see either, but i can still hope for it.
....and then what everybody else said. I'm looking forward to the new Over the Rhine.
Edit: How could i forget the new Starflyer59 disc?

Can you say Linkin Park? =) Yes. Now, that I would list them as being anticipated is greatly in doubt. Besides, they're still milking Meteora. I can't say I know of anything to add to this list right now. I think Beck is supposed to be coming out with a new one.

Limp Bizkit have begun work on its first album since the return of guitarist Wes Borland. The group is supposed to be recording with longtime producer Ross Robinson. They are hoping for the record to be released by Christmas.
Dumbest move Wes Borland ever made......

QOTSA should be good.
NIN generally has terribly dumb lyrics, but very interesting music, so it could be worthwhile for me anyway.
Limp Bizkit are possibly the worst thing to happen to music in the past 10 years.
Andrew W.K. is funny.

Add Lucinda Williams to the list. She's got a new one slated to come out in early 2005. I've seen rumors that it's a live double album, but I don't know if that's been confirmed or not.

Neil Young has a greatist hit's disc and dvd, that is in the middle of release, [so I'd say its close enough to 2005] And if you are a fan, but don't have any cd's this is pretty well the only one you will need.. If you are one of the people who goes, "Not a fan" You clearly are missing a key influence in grunge rock, if not the father, and should consider adding it to your music library , I mean, this guy is the reason for Lynyrd Skynyrd existing in the big scene, specifically , Sweet home Alabama [ Written in response to Southern Man.]
Track listing..
1. Down By The River 2. Cowgirl in the Sand 3. Cinnamon Girl 4. Helpless 5. After the Gold Rush 6. Only Love Can Break Your Heart 7. Southern Man 8. Ohio 9. The Needle And The Damage Done 10. Well, If you want the entire collection of songs that are guarenteed likes, this is the cd, but If you are more of the , "I'd like to experiance Neil Young" type, You have 52 disks to choose from, If you want an amazing concert live disk then try and pick up, LIVE RUST , Mostly Acoustic works, but still amazing. January 25 is the release date for Knuckledown, the new album from Ani DiFranco.
And why should we be exicted by this, you ask? Well, one simple reason: On this album, DiFranco's producer, guitarist, and songwriting partner is none other than the great JOE HENRY.

But having Joe Henry participate on your record is only one step down from having Bono and The Edge play on it. It may not be a great record, but it is sure to be well-produced and well worth hearing.

Sthingy is putting out a new album? Awesome!!! One that I think I forgot to mention earlier is Evanescence. I don't know if I can expect to like it as much as Fallen, since Amy's antics have started to wear thin and they could potentially work their way into the attitude of the new songs, but I'm excited to hear the actual band do an album together (new guitarist included), and I think that Evanescence sans Ben stands a chance of being a little more creative. Bloop, I don't suppose you have any idea when that Lucinda Williams set is coming out, do you? It was originally slated for a late 2004 release, but, for some reason, it got pushed back, and Amazon says they don't have a final date for it yet...

Switchfoot also belongs, but I'll leave the emphasis off.

Marianne Faithfull has a new album coming out January 25, called Before the Poison.
I have no idea what her music is like, but I have it on good word that this is a GREAT album. (It's already out in Britain).

A couple more possibilities: Mindy Smith and Rachel Yamagata both have new releases slated for this year. I heard both of their 2004 albums and was only somewhat impressed, but there was enough potential to make these new albums well worth hearing.
