Help me out with some of my Christmas shopping.

I'm looking for a book to give to someone I know who is an avid reader. This person prefers non-fiction, but not something about philosophy or theology. He'd prefer something historical or scientific.

Anybody know of any good biographies or other non-fiction books that might be worth looking into?

I would suggest looking up "Boring Books" at amazon.com.  Sorry, I couldn't resist!
