Linkin Park

Can't they just milk Meteora for one more year?  Please?

Radiohead

I haven't heard any news about them working on an album yet.  It seems that after HTTT, they were planning on a longer break than usual.  Do you have information I don't?

LOL. Would you rather be annoyed by the same old songs from them, or new songs? Either would be preferable to being annoyed by their collaborations with Jay-Z, no doubt.

I don't. I just thought it was about the right time. If they're going to take longer, I'll just take 'em off my list.

When you put it that way, I'd prefer to not be annoyed at all, and I suppose a set of new songs my be the best possibility toward that end.  Either way, I have more radio stations on tap than just the Clear Channel alt/rock stations, and I do have my CDs too, so I was just playing.

Collaborating with Jay-Z, a tremendous talent in genre, had potential I thought, but the mashup formula I don't think is usually any better than just being playful.

Oh, and I can understand you having Radiohead there for that reason.  They came out with an album the same year that Linkin Park did last time, as I remember well.  I'm just thinking their next one might be 2006 or 2007, but a surprise would be nice.

I was kind of thinking along similar lines - "Since when does bloop listen to mainstream radio in the first place?"

Generally speaking, yes. I tend to only enjoy certain mashups for their humor value (ZOEgirl vs. dc Talk, for example), and I didn't bother with the Linkin Park/Jay-Z remixes (I heard one and knew to stay away from the others).

I'd still love to hear what resulted from the collision of Sigur Ros and Celine Dion, though. (Yes, such a thing does exist, but my attempts to download it have been thus far unfruitful.)

I'd rather that they take whatever time they feel that they need to work on it.Since Amnesiac was recorded at the same time as Kid A, putting about a 2 1/2 year gap between it and HTTT, I think a gap of another 2 1/2 to 3 years is reasonable. In any event, a Radiohead album is clearly going to take more time to craft than a Linkin Park album. There's just more attention to detail in both the lyrics and the music. (LP songs do have sonic details and lyrical snippets that I really enjoy, but there are a few elements of the music that are kind of on auto-pilot, and the lyrics are less complex, so... yeah. I said all that so that you wouldn't have to.)
