Oh, wow... I just found out about an upcoming paperback release that has immediately shot to the top of my Most Anticipated Books of the Year list: David Dark's The Gospel According to America.

If you haven't yet read Dark's previous book, Everyday Apocalypse, you're missing out on what I consider to be one of the most important and insightful books about art and faith ever written. Dark's exploration of such artists as Flannery O'Connor, Radiohead, and the Coen brothers is challenging, revelatory, and profound, and it just might change the way you approach the arts.

This new book promises to be one of 2005's most significant literary releases.

I loved Everyday Apocalypse so I'm quite excited to hear about this new release.

Still haven't had a chance to pick this one up, but I noticed that Books and Culture is running a new essay written by Dark, adapted from the book. Can't wait until I have the time to read it!

Maybe my library will be nice to me again and have this in.
