For what its worth, I'm going to try to see the band in Lexington. (My back-up choice is Atlanta). If anyone else is going to one of those shows, let me know... maybe we can meet.  Smiley

How much for tickets?  Because there is a limit to what I'd spend for a concert and that goes for any artist.  No artist is worth shelling out 50 or more dollars to see.

Well, prices haven't been annouced yet, but you can be sure that these will be more than 50 dollars a pop.

And, for me, it'll be well worth it. I'd trade my right leg for a chance to see U2. No band blesses me in the way that they do, and the chance to see them in concert would be a dream come true.

WHAT THE CRAP?!?

According to the dates posted at U2.com, the closest this tour is coming to me is Philadelphia. PHILA-BLOODY-DELPHIA. I live in freaking Tennessee... I should NOT have to drive that far to see U2!

Yeah, I saw that, too.  I think there is going to be a fall leg in North America, too...hopefully that one will come closer to you.  Really does suck, though!  They stopped in Charlotte in 2001 (I think), but I'm not exactly getting my hopes up that they will again.

Surely they'll be stopping an Atlanta in the fall... I mean, that's one of the biggest cities in America... how could they possibly skip it?

I see they are coming to the Pepsi Center in Denver again...but the cheapest tickets are $50?  I wasn't expecting that.

I don't understand something.  If I'm reading everything right, general admission floor seating is $49.50.  Reserved seats run up to like $160.  Aren't the general admission tickets the best seats in the house (unless you don't like to stand up for the whole concert)?

Anyway, U2.com members get first crack at tickets starting tomorrow - then they go on sale to the general public on Friday.  I wonder how many tickets will still be around by the general public sale date.

I'd catch this tour if I wasn't getting married this year. I have to save money somehow, so it looks like I'll have to wait for either a second leg of the tour, or a new album in about 2008. Sorry, U2. You know I still love you guys.

I think this is going to be my approach, too.  The second leg of the tour will be right around my wife's due date or just after the baby is born...so, looks like 2008 or 2012 for me.

Has anyone been following the utter fiasco with the presale for U2.com members?  What a mess!!  People are even talking about a class-action lawsuit for getting ripped off.  One stat I read that was probably the scariest (if I owned U2.com) is that an estimated 26,000 general admission floor tickets were available for sale in all concerts.  U2.com guaranteed the best seating (standing?) for members...however, they have booked 100,000 new memberships recently.

Jerks.  They visit Chicago, NY, and Boston several times on each leg, but the closest they get to me is one stinkin' show in Atlanta.  And I'm not driving 4 1/2 hours to see them.   Oh well, I guess I'll wait for the DVD.

Is it floor tickets?

Ima try to get mine next Monday.  No, I'm not a fanclub member, nor do I want to be.

(They'll probably be all out before I even try to acquire them.)

Yeah, I got General Admission floor tickets.  I'm not part of the fan club, but my brother got me a website subscription for my birthday, so I did get the 2nd day advanced order thing.

Ack. Tickets are going on sale way too soon. I was hoping the fall tour would go on sale during the summer, by which point I'd have a better idea of how much I'd been able to trim from the wedding budget and whether I could afford to see U2 in the fall. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but this is going to run over $100 for 2 people in the cheapest seats. I'm going to have to pass on U2 yet again.

Crossing my fingers for 2008!

@U2 has posted a rehearsal setlist; this isn't the order in which they'll be playing these songs on the actual tour, but there's a good shot that these songs will be receiving some play:

A rehearsal set list

U2 fan site Interference posted this set list performed by the band during one of their private rehearsals in Vancouver last week. Band manager Paul McGuinness said it was accurate for that rehearsal, but he stressed that the band is working on a bunch of different set lists. He figures it must have been a fan outside the building "who could tell what the songs were through the steel doors," McGuinness told the Sun. (*Indicates from new album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb):

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own *
Stuck In A Moment
Love And Peace Or Else *
Out Of Control
City Of Blinding Lights *
All Because Of You *
Yahweh *
40
Bad
Beautiful Day
Pride (In The Name Of Love)
Where The Streets Have No Name
Walk On
Elevation
One
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Vertigo *
Miracle Drug *
Bullet The Blue Sky
With Or Without You
Running To Stand Still

---

"Running to Stand Still"?!?! SCORE!!! That's one of my all-time favorites, and I had given up any hope of ever hearing them play it live...

Sweet set list! Good thing I'm not actually going to this tour, or I'd have to kill you for posting that. (I like to be in the dark about these things when I go to concerts... one time I went to an RSJ concert and they actually had the setlist printed out in pamphlets that they passed out when people entered. Grrr.....)

But this looks like it'll make for a good DVD, which at this point seems to be the closest I'll ever get to seeing U2 live.

I caught a snippet of "City of Blinding Lights" when they were talking about the tour on our local news last night. Bono and the boys looked a tad subdued, but hey, it was their first show of the tour, and Bono had mentioned being a bit nervous about it (you'd think he'd get over that after 25 years... but whatever.)
