I haven't seen enough of the movies listed. I guess we couldn't really expect Julie Delpy to get a Best Actress nomination could we.

Well, it's mostly because he took it out of the hat for Best Documentary and was pushing for Best Picture.  Oops, looks like it backfired, butthead!!

I must admit I chuckled a little bit when I realized it wasn't nominated.

I won't even see these movies until I get them from netflix.  I'm even borrowing "Fahrenheit 911".  You'd think the Palm d'Or at Cannes would make it a shoe in for something (it probably did for the documentary award, but overambitious Oscar politiking must have done it in, as dgp said).

Where's Thurman?  (OK, I'm just a Thurman/Tarantino fanboy.  I'll admit it - the guy's just so good at making movies that pop a bit more visually than most.)

Now that you mention it... when was the last time the Cannes winner also won the Best Picture award at the Oscars?

I know Barton Fink got the Palm d'Or but not Best Picture, as did Pulp Fiction, but, off the top of my head, I can't think of any film that has ever won both awards.

I meant a shoe-in for a nomination, not a win, somewhere.  It has enough clout to make a nod a likelihood with a movie as widely publicized as Fahrenheit.
