at CMCentral there is a thread in the movies forum about a RotK trailer that got leaked out and was posted at theonering.net and then removed at New Line's request. some people had grabbed the trailer before it got taken off...anyway, here are some screenshots... from what I read, the trailer isn't a 'real' trailer, but an assortment of shots that was shown at a convention recently. or something. anyway, footage from RotK... http://www.pbase.com/fiddledeedee/rotk_pics

Cool. It doesn't tell me whether they took out the scouring of the Shire though. That's my number one worry about ROTK.

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:
Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.
Chuck Norris can divide by zero.
Chuck Norris CAN believe it's not butter.

I think the word has always been that the scouring of the Shire wouldn't be in the movie.

I have seen the "trailer" and if it's not a real one, it looks pretty good, a little rough, but definitely RoTK footage. You can follow these links to either watch it or download it.

Haven't looked at the file, but I will sometime.
DvChWi: I think it's pretty obvious that Jackson will give the scouring abrupt treatment at best. It has been (to the best of my knowledge) confirmed that the journey into the West will be the ending of the movie, but it will probably be preceeded by the destruction of the Ring, a wrapping up of the loose plot lines, and maybe a mention of what happens afterwards.
On the other hand, Christopher Lee insinuates that something will happen to Saruman (as you may recall, he meets his demise at the end of the scouring). It is surmised (though far from confirmed) that Jackson will insert something regarding the return to the Shire and the destiny of the hobbits. The very fact that the gift-giving scene was neglected suggests to me that Sam's role in the restoration of the Shire will not be present, and ergo that the scouring will be absent as well. Then again, maybe the soil will be the same sort of deus ex machina that the rope and Frodo's phial were/are.

Thanks for that second link, schilleriana. It looks awesome (not that I doubted RotK would be awesome, or anything)!

Maybe I was engaging in a little hyperbole, but I was somewhat annoyed when both a trailer and a poster for TTT featured Gandalf. I mean, the story's been around for half a century, so it's not like it's a major spoiler, but Gandalf's return is one of the coolest points in the book, and I think it could have been better if it wasn't pre-revealed.
Not that I don't watch all the trailers and bounce up and down in my chair yelling "I'm a pony! I'm a pony!" when I'm excited about a new movie (it disturbs my roommate)
