Well, this is theoretically the second to last book in the series.

I think the cover is boring. But I have no interest in the series anyway, so it hardly matters.

Priceless?  That?  It seemed pretty obvious to me.

I have to say I'm looking forward to reading Harry Potter, but I haven't even tried speculating about the half-blood prince.  Caring about that, for me, may come by actually reading the book.

Harry Potter is about the only thing I have left to geek-out about.

I'm off to the Midnight Magic/Madness party come Friday evening.

I can't say the same, but that's just because I still need to catch up with #5!

I like Harry Potter-- quite a bit, in fact-- but I think those books are overhyped sometimes. As far as stories of magic and fantasy are concerned, J.K. Rowling's imagination isn't even half as amazing as that of, say, Hayao Miyazaki.

My copy is preordered, and I am so. freakin. excited.  :happy sigh:

I think I enjoy HP more than LotR.  I don't know that it's better, but I enjoy it more.

Yeah there's hype. But sometimes I enjoy all the hubbub. It's nice not to be on the outside cynically looking in sometimes.

Jon Stewart's coverage of the Harry Potter hubbub tonight was, as expected, brilliant.

I'm not the kind of guy that goes to midnight showings of movies (I'll fall asleep), nor do I get CDs the second they're available somewhere.  In much the same way, I don't get that hyped about any book, but I really enjoy the Potter series nonetheless.  I think I went to a Potter party at the book store once, with my son dressed as the boy wizard, just because I heard they had live owls for Isaac to look at.

Hmmm looks like HP #6 is actually shorter than #5 was.  Shocked  I was looking forward to a thousand pages or so.  [_[

I got mine in the mail today from Barnes & Noble.  I've read through chapter 4 thus far - no idea who the half-blood prince is, and the book hasn't made us care at this point in the book.  However, it's as witty and charming, so far, as ever (particularly the chapter I just read with Dumbledore).

This is a blog I post on quite oftenThis post is about Harry Potter, and his opinion of it.

If you do comment on his blog please keep in mind:

- that he likes to 'stir things up' so most posts are 'tongue in cheek'
- I like this guy and his friends (they really are good people...just a bit sassy)
- I comment as FAM on his blog.
- it will ruffle some of you, and make some of you laugh

Well, one should probably do at least a couple of those 5 things he lists, but I can't say I'm riled.  I really do wish I was more of a bookworm.

lol...no I can't image that you would be!

Some of his other posts are more 'sassy'...but some people are also obsessed with Harry Potter.

Bleh.....anything that gets too popular usually turns me off.....and this is no exception.
I honestly don't see what all the hype is about and neither does my daughter.
I 've asked he a few times if she wants to read HP and she tells me she has no interest in it.

These are adult activities? Come on, you know there's 12 year olds doing at least two of these things, at least, I've heard of it.

It was a good entry for a non-fan like me though.

yah, he's a good guy!

On a Harry Potter note...I saw my nieces 'half blood prince' book, it looks nice...lol...what else can I say, she is excited! But hasn't finished it yet...though honestly I did expect that she may have!

I did an online quiz with my nieces to find out that I am of the house of 'huffelpuff' (please excuse if the spelling is wrong)

Plugged-In (the death isn't revealed, but there's at least one important *spoiler* here) has a content summary with their usual "analysis".  LOL - I'm not sure what they're getting at with that last sentence seeing as magic, as performed in Harry Potter, doesn't exist.  If they mean to make sure your kid doesn't go out in search of a coven, sure, ok, but I don't see that as likely with a person well-educated about reality.

This is just my opinion, everyone has a right to love what they love, howerer:
I don't see the big deal about these books.
All I see is, J. K. Rowland has a big scam going and you all have made her almost a billionaire by going crazy over this character!
I'm happy my daughter has never gotten into them.

Paul, don't you hate reading anyway? I wouldn't expect you to like the books in that case. If you've even read them.
