I watched this movie the ther day, and as I did so, this thought kept recurring in m mind: This is the darkest kids' movie I have ever seen! The entire thing revolves around injuries and rejection. I liked the movie; there didn't seem to be as much humor in it as one might expect, but it had some very good lessons. But i simply could not get over how dark the movie was! Have any of you seen it?

Welcome to the phorum, Imladris. A Lord of the Rings fan, I see.

And I haven't seen Babe 2. I thought the first one was really stupid, and the second one looked to continue the trend. I think Finding Nemo is pretty dark--I mean, his kids and wife get eaten. What's up with that?

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.

Well, you know, in The Lion King (which is highly superior to the still fantastic Nemo), the other highest grossing animated film, was dark in that sense too. Maybe that's a sign of something.

I really enjoyed the first Babe, actually. Tell me why you didn't Vlad! It was so funny and the whole thing had a weird tint to it. It felt real or something, I dunno.

yeh I suppose y'all are right about Finding Nemo and Lion King. But Babe 2 was dark all the way through. Even the setting in many scenes was dark...at night in crowded streets...it was just a bit odd for a kids' movie.

Hey Vlad, youre right, I am a LotR fan. But I am a fan of the books (so far my all-time favorite fiction) and not so much of the movies. I really gotta stop reading the books before the movies come out. I thought they did a good job with the movies and stuck to the books pretty well, but I just didnt care as much for them.   :P
