hehe, yeah...going by how others have guessed, I'm thinking I should've stuck with four stars again. I guess I could change my guess, right? but that kinda defeats my purpose of guessing (mostly) ignorantly and arbitrarily.

I'm going to post early so we don't risk me not getting on all day again.
I'm going to go with 4 stars for The Great Destroyer. It's got a great sound, some nice slowcore songs, and some songs that just stink. There are only two songs that i regularly skip, but otherwise, I love the CD, and I have a new band to "watch". The band was much better in concert but this is still a decent album - and like i've said before, i'm a sucker for good atmospheric sounds.
Anyone else here into Low?

I'll hop on the Four-Star Train for He Is Legend. Really, really interesting blend of melodic rock, emo, and harder-edged stuff. The screaming normally wouldn't be my style, but I kind of like the manic jumping from melodic singing to screaming/guttural growling. And the lyrics are a doozy. They'll take me years to interpret and that's a good thing. The only reason I didn't go with the full five is that a lot of the songs, while admirable for how tight the band is and the progressive tendencies that they have, don't seem to "stick" with me for one reason or another. I don't mind a song having several different pieces and not needing to conform to a single rhythm with a catchy chorus. But sometimes I have trouble coming up with that one great thing that really identifies a song, and the album blurs together a bit, like a bunch of mini-songs or something. my impression could change over time, but for now I'm going with 4 stars.

I'll go with a close 4 stars for Relient K. I love the album, it would get five stars, but I have trouble getting into My Girl's Ex Boyfriend. I regularly skip over it because I'm rarely in the right mood to listen to it. Other than that, the album hasn't worn out it's welcome with me, a very good sign.

I'm going with 4 stars for Lullabies. Precisely, I think it would be a low B, but a B nonetheless.

I regularly skip over it because I'm rarely in the right mood to listen to it. That's my least favorite song on that album, too. It doesn't seem to fit when taken in context with the break-up songs that start and end the album. Matt must have written that one before his split with Katy Hudson.

Oh, and here's the latest from worldofcm: Rock of Ages is a definite step up compared to Amy's last two offerings. The country and americana influences are added bonuses. 4 stars. I think that's everyone, so I'm off to add up scores now. NP: "Hard Bargain", Ron Sexsmith
