I struggled to find a theme verse for my HS retreat. I came up with some possiblilities but I think someone else had some better ideas.

I tried to say the right things in the right way, but  simple silence is the only way to conclude my attempt.

Ponderings and then restatements from both sides will cause more of the same.

This is a good one:
Col. 3:23-25
23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as  for the Lord rather  than for men, 24 knowing  that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. 25 For hewho does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.

Fun facts about Chuck Norris:

Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

I'm a big fan of Vlad!'s life verse, but I can't remember the reference right now. Vlad!, you need to post that one here... it's a daily inspiration for me, anyway.

Good verse. What translation is that? Sounds Message-y or something.

And I'm still thinking about the verses...though these are all good ones.

regarding Vlad!'s life verse, I suppose he admires and strives to be like the second son rather than the first.

I'm disclosing information about the CAK HS retreat( =) *Stanton feels important*). The Theme title is 'Unmasked'. The verse to go along with the theme is (as of right now) Hebrews 4:13 ~ Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. ~ As CAK students, alumni, and friends of those who know the school, is it good?

Given the previous behavior of some students at CAK retreats, it seems like an appropriate verse to remind these representatives of a Christian school to behave well...

I think that verse fits very well with the theme. However, I don't know what would fit the school best.

Proverbs 29:15-17:

The rod of correction imparts wisdom,
but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
When the wicked thrive, so does sin,
but the righteous will see their downfall.
Discipline your son, and he will give you peace;
he will bring delight to your soul.

this is the best verse for students i've ever found:

col. 2:8
see to it that no one takes you captive by false and hollow philosophy which depends on the traditions of this world rather than on christ.

I read it every morning, and after five years (I found it in my freshman year of high school) it's still new and real to me each day.

And that's a great verse, smartash.

Rom. 1:19-22
Quote
..what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools...
