A poem that I wrote back during school. Inspired by a conversation between my dad and I. Enjoy.
Rubicon
Every day I cross my infinitely small
Line between the past and the future times
It is my present, it is my rubicon
Every day I cross this line of mine
But it doesn't seem to stay behind
And it never gets in front of me
It is my present, it is my rubicon
The line moves steadily forward, bringing
Me with it no matter how hard I try to
break loose from it
It is my present, it is my rubicon
And so I reminisce on the times that I miss
And the regrets of my ignorant bliss
Crossing my ever moving line, my present
I cannot go back, for it is my rubicon
