Kids In the Way's cd is a step forward for the band. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good. As a fan I'm pleased. 3 stars

I almost gave Bill Mallonee a 3 because his sound is really consistent on this album, but I decided to go with a 4 instead because of some subtler things that I noticed on later listens. 4 stars.

A Murder of Crows is such a far cry from the brilliance of Tiny Voices and Scar that I was tempted to go with 2 stars, but it's really not all that bad. There are enough enjoyable songs and memorable lyrical turns to make it a solid 3 star album.

Looks like I got a little overzealous with the 2-star guesses there.
Anyway, I'm going to give Corrinne May 3 stars. It pains me to do that because she's a wonderful person and she has this knack for writing words and melodies that just melt me. But she really took a turn towards generic pop on this album that rubbed me the wrong way. I like the cutesy lyrics on some tracks in spite of myself - it makes her unique and playful. But some of these songs are just generic and boring... and hey, didn't she used to play the acoustic guitar? I miss that.
