http://www.hasidicreggae.com/index.php?sec...n=article&id=23You can at least read lyrics here. If you know the genre, it seems to follow convention. (I couldn't get the audio to work for me here or at yahoo). Heck, if you can't get anything to work, just put me down for Coldplay, too. Sure, why not?

We can't guess ratings on an album that we can't find working audio clips for. However, I'm reluctant to make bloop change his album at this point because people have already guessed on it. I'll take a poll... how should we handle this?

That's not too bad to use for this. It at least gives you an idea for the sound of some of the songs. If you really need to, I'll just omit myself this round. It's clearly in the rules, and obviously my bad that I didn't check for working audio clips, so I don't see a particular need to make an exception to those rules for me.

I'm gonna let it slide since the round is already so far along and people don't seem to mind guessing based on this info. If it doesn't bug them, it doesn't bug me. But yeah, let's be more careful in round 12.

4 for everyone but Brendan, who I believe might award the Coldplay album a 5
(actually, I think murlough might go with a 5, also, but I'm hedging my bets here on a high B).

This may have seemed predictable, but I'm giving Tess Wiley 4 stars. Solid album. This probably would have been 5 stars if it were up to Josh or Brenden. I tend to be really picky with my 5-star ratings, but this is up there. You'd never guess from the clips how diverse and expansive this thing is. Yeah, I'm a Sixpence fanboy, but from Tess's contributions to the band back in the day, I would never have guessed she had such a solid and diverse album in her. (I ought to write a full review of this thing soon - I don't think I've seen any thorough reviews of this one yet.)

I've been having trouble deciding what to rank this album, I eventually decided I had to ding Coldplay at least one star for having pretty much the same sound and using a lot of the same tricks they've been using since they first appeared. The album is Coldplay doing the same mid-tempo to slow music with high vocals and relationship songs. That said, I still enjoyed most of it, and only a few tracks bored me. I thought the bonus track was a nice touch, I'll go with 4 stars for this one, 3.5 rounded up.

This Motown CD is a good example of why i listen to albums several times and in a few different settings before i review them. After the first listen, which was at work as i was drawing up some specs and chatting with my boss, i would've been inclined to give this a high 4 or 4.5... i thought the remixes were very true to the original songs and gave a fresh feel to them all...
however, listening later i was pretty irritated by some of the treatments of the songs. The first one that stood out was "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye which is one of the best booty call songs of all time. The tempo was all jacked up and the whole song felt really rushed and aggrivating (one could say there's parallels to the treatment of the subject matter as a whole). So, i could see this album dropping to the stretches of a 2.5.
But since there's enough positive aspects, i'm balancing the scores out to end up with a solid 3 Stars.
peace... love... bdg...

I have to say that I'm surprising myself here with my score. I actually like (not love) one NewSong album - Love Revolution. To me, they are just a 4HIM wanna-be - and a second rate one at that, though I love Michael O'Brien's voice. This album came as a complete surprise to me. Extremely strong song selection and delivery - great audience participation. This is one of the best worship CDs to come out in the last 5 years, let alone anything NewSong has done. 4 stars

I am astonished.
All this time, Bruce Cockburn has had such a huge, impressive back catalog for me to explore, and I've paid him little to no attention whatsoever.
But that's gotta change now, because The Charity of Night is a beautiful, masterfully crafted album, fully deserving of a 5 star rating.
I'll say more later, perhaps in a separate thread.

I had exactly the same reaction, and I'm assinging exactly the same rating to X&Y, for the same reasons. 4 stars.

Matisyahu is brilliantly played. Also, lyrics about Judaism seem perfectly natural with this style, which I found interesting, but I feel so out of my league when I listen to it. I think under ordinary circumstances, I would award an album of its type 5 stars, but seeing as I have a very limited knowledge of reggae, I'll side with caution and go with a 4. (This will also make virtually everyone happy as they guessed that and not all of them had the luxury of listening to the album.)

Hells yeah! I had a good round for a change.
I'm gonna have to tally scores later. It's pretty busy at work today. I'm not doing anything tonight (unless I want to get last minute tickets to that Eisley concert... yeah, right), so I'll probably tally when I get home.
