Careful. Using four stars at CMC will result in stern moderator warnings.

I had fun trying to pick something to confuse people this time around. For those of you who haven't known me for a while, Momentum was one of my favorite albums when I was younger and first getting into "Christian rock". Most of my other favorite CDs from back then are WOW Hits CDs. Embarassing, I know, but it's always fun to go back and see just what was in that stuff.

Just so everyone knows, tomorrow is going to be a very long day for me at work, and I'll probably be out in the evening, so I'll let everyone have an extra day to get their guesses in. Critics, don't post your final ratings until after midnight on Friday. I'll add up the final scores over the weekend.

i'm going away for the weekend so, even though it's not quite midnight...

Matthew West grew enough on me to gain a low four stars...

Mezmerize.  3 stars.  Thrash metal with that BIT of middle eastern kick.  Some nice harmonies for the style.  Big DUMB lyrics, spastic vocals (like these fragments I've been writing).

Fun, though sometimes cheesy rock music. There's very little on this album I don't like, I'm gonna go with 4 stars.

The White Stripes have recorded a new batch of songs that are mostly pretty good. As an album, though, they just don't gel well at all. I'll go with a B- rating, making it a very low 4 stars.

I agree that many of the transitions were quite akward.

Dang! I thought "blah" for you meant 3 stars. I correctly predicted your response... just not you rating.

Anyway, I'm really struggling with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, who are teetering between a 3 and a 4. I'll go with 4 stars, since the first disc is really strong. The second disc kind of meanders and has a few tunes that Nick should have shoved up his orifice. So when you combine a 4/4.5 star disc and a 3 star disc, you get somewhere around 3.5 or 4, I guess. I don't like his voice much and the swagger sometimes rubs me the wrong way, but overall, I think this band is a good find, and they can really lay down a solid rock track or an excellent groove.

Careful.  Them's fightin' words with Josh, I'd imagine.

I can't say I agree, either (though I, too, think Abattoir Blues is the stronger of the two).  Hey, at least Nick Cave's albums generally have what I'd call real ambition (as opposed to a fake sort of surface-level ambition - thinking of a couple bands here).

I decided to go with 5 stars on tobyMac for sentimental value.

Kidding. I'm going with 2 stars on this one. Some of the samples and interludes seemed like good ideas at first, but they become really irritating after time. There's also a bit of cheese on here, and some of the better songs are fairly generic as rap-rock and hip-pop go. It's a good thing I had my fun with this one when I was younger, because it wouldn't be worth my money today. It's still fun for ol' times' sake, but I don't listen to this one too often anymore.
