Er, that link didn't work as of 4:03 PM EST x_x

If you're talking about Martin Luther the reformer, I don't think he was fat. I mean, he was an ascetic monk for a good portion of his life, and spent a lot of his time afterwards hiding from the church. But I didn't know him personally (maybe you did?), and strangely no photographs or movies have survived with him as the subject, so I can't say for sure.

Works for me now. Probably TVA deemed the site as subversive or something and blocked it.

I do seem to recall seeing a drawing of Lou in one of my history books that made him look a little on the pudgy side, but I don't know how accurate a representation it was.

Luther was not fat. My parents have a small print of a painting of his face and from that I can tell you he is not fat. He is not skin and bones, but I don't think he was a fat monk. Remember, this is the guy who locked himself in a cold castle room with only a desk and chair and translated the Bible into German. The movie sounds exciting. It was put together by a collection of organizations that my church trusts very well. These peoples put together the Bon Hoefer movie, which was done very well and acurately. (If you don't already know, my dad is a Lutheran pastor.)

I tried to say the right things in the right way, but  simple silence is the only way to conclude my attempt.

Ponderings and then restatements from both sides will cause more of the same.

So remember: Stan, yes, this man, gave his best and is leaving it up to you and Him to do the rest.

I hadn't questioned the authenticity of portraits such as this; this and similiar ones seem to be rather common depictions of Luther. I wouldn't be surprised if sometime during his life someone drew a picture or painted a portrait of him...
I remember reading a bit about Luther years ago and am pretty sure that he gained quite a bit of weight in his later years. it seems like the movie focuses more on his earlier years. I hadn't looked at the movie site until today; now that I see that Joseph Fiennes is cast as Luther, I'm very curious how he fits the role. initially it seemed odd, but I've been impressed with his acting in the few movies I've seen him in.
