I read that Agatha Christie was, from a book publshed in 2000.
Only the Bible and Shgaespeare have sold more copies.
I think she has sold over 400 million.
I was wondering though, with the popularity of the Harry Potter books, is J. K. Rowling poised to pass Christie, or has she already done so?

There are several different metrics for this. Do you mean the one single book that has sold the most copies, or one author who has overall sold the most copies of all his or her books?

I seem to recall hearing something about this value changing recently, but I can't remember what it was. I suggest a Google search.

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.

Well, according to Answerbag (by way of Google), you're right: the best selling author is Agatha Christie. Check out this site for more information.
