My wife rented this from the local libraray (we get all new movies there, it's cool to get to see 'em for free), and this is one WEIRD movie.
Has anyone seen it?
The acting is fantastic, especially Kiera Knightly. I had never seen her act before and I sure am impressed. Brody was magnificent and Kris Kristofferson was creepy as a demented doctor. Jennifer Jason Leigh played her part understated and it works perfectly.
Go   HERE  for full details.
.....Plot Summary for
The Jacket (2005)
The film centers on a wounded Gulf war veteran who returns to his native Vermont suffering from bouts of amnesia. He is hitching and gets picked up by a stranger, things go pear shaped when a cop pulls them over and is murdered by the stranger. The vet. is wrongly accused of killing the cop and lands up in an asylum. A quack doctor prescribes a course of experimental therapy, restraining him in a heavy duty straight jacket-like device, and locks him away in a body drawer of the basement morgue. During course of his treatment he gets flashbacks and visions of his future , where he can foresee he is to die in four days time. The catch is he doesn't know how. Thus commences the classic race against time.

.....It was never fully explained just how he did get into the future.
Was it all just a dream? If so, how did the future change?
.....The actors were amazing, especially Kiera.
Is she always this good? Is she considered an oscar worthy actress?
Does she do that 'mouth thing' in the other movies?
(I read somewhere that she does).
You know, where she opens it half way and pouts, then breaks into a big smile?
It looked weird to me at first but then I realized it fit the part perfectly'
.....I saw the following in the interview part of the bonus material:
The director didn't want her at first for the role, but the company said they would not make the movie without her, so he reluctantly relented (she didn't think she was right for it either), and they both were pleasantly surprised, especially when she was able to speak in a flawless American accent.

If memory serves me correctly, Josh believes her to be one of the worst actresses alive.

I just think she's hot.

I mostly just thought she was bad in this film-- she was fine in Pirates.

And yeah, she is kinda hot.

Don't forget...she was bad, but hot, in King Arthur.  But yes, she was good in Pirates.

Everything about King Arthur was bad. Period.

She was passable in Pirates and Love Actually...but should she be winning Oscars? Um, no way in hell.
