Okay, they've remade this film twice already, which means there are three different versions of Freaky Friday out there. Tell me: Why is this story worth telling so many times?

Anyone seen the new one? A favorite critic of mine has, and he doesn't seem too thrilled.

if I understand correctly, this is only the second version of Freaky Friday: there is the book, the 1977 movie, and now this remake. I haven't seen it but I'd like to eventually; I had enjoyed another one of Lindsay Lohan's movies, the remake of The Parent Trap. she is quite talented at playing two different roles in the same movie. but I'm a sucker for movies like that, just to see how the actors pull it off.

From reading the review, it looks like Disney filmmakers only read the blurb on the back of the book before making both films, since neither of the movies seem to accurately reflect the book itself.
Oh, well. Not like I was planning on seeing it anyway.

There was another version of the movie that came out in the 90s sometime. I remember seeing it with my family.

interesting. I looked on yahoo movies and it only lists two, but imdb lists 3. the one made in the 90's was a tv movie.

when *does* a movie accurately reflect the book itself?  [_[

I don't care; I still want to see it eventually.

I'm with you, Schil. I still want to see it...whether it doesn't follow the book or whatever. My little sister saw it the other day and loved it. I loved the Parent Trap movie with Lindsay Lohan in it. and I loved the 1977 Freaky Friday with Jodi Foster.

You know, that's a good point. I guess FotR or maybe a Clancy movie is about the closest a movie has gotten, which is a step in the right direction but still isn't saying much.

we did a family thing and went to see it. it's cute for a younger kids movie. that actress lindsey is adorable and has some talent. the highlight would have to be the kid who plays the youger brother. he's freaking hilarious!

Kid actors used to annoy me, but the quality seems to be getting better as of late. I want to see more movies with Abigail Breslin (the cute little girl who played Bo in Signs). A quick glance at IMDB shows me that she's in two post-production movies. Here's hoping they're good.

Yes, she was AMAZING in Signs! Of course, a big part of that was the director, but there's no denying that she's a talented kid.

One of the greatest kid actors I've ever seen is Dakota Fanning. Her performance in I Am Sam showed some truly great talent.
