some people have mentioned that such shipping notifications get delivered to junk mail folders so you might check there and mark it as "not spam".

Yes, that's happened to me a lot with Amazon and Fanfire, so I always check my junk folders but I've only gotten one from Paste in the four or five times I've ordered from them. But like I said, the stuff always gets here in a timely manner so I'm not concerned.

I ordered it, Josh.  I don't buy much blind, so I hope it's good, but I have faith in this band.

Rest assured that you will not be disappointed.

I'm going to try to review it soon, or at least post a more thorough response, but for now let me just say this-- I find it to be a much more satisfying recording than Drunkard's Prayer. And I really like that album.

Sounds like a great album.. I wish I had the money for it. They also don't have it on Rhapsody..

Maybe some of you kind pholks will eventually upload a few songs to the pub  mellow

reviving this thread just because. Smiley

my copy of Live From Nowhere arrived awhile back but I haven't ripped the mp3s to my computer yet. a lot of the songs are ones I already have from recordings of the same shows so I've been slow about it.

they played a couple new songs, "I'm On a Roll"and "Entertaining Thoughts", last night. also "Trouble", which is new but has been performed before. (excellent concert recording here.)  stuff to watch out for!

Holy smokes! Last night's show in Nashville was one of the tightest, most electrifying shows I've ever seen-- ten times better than their show in Knoxville last year, which was itself an excellent, grade-A performance. These guys are to small clubs and theaters what U2 is to arenas and stadiums.

A few highlights:

-- THEY'RE RECORDING AGAIN! Karin said they'll be hitting the studio again very, very soon. Her description of the new record was priceless: "We're not sortin' through a bunch of heavy crap this time, so it should be a pretty light-hearted record."

-- The new songs... well, gosh, where to begin? They played four brand new ditties-- all of which, I assume, will be on the new album-- and at least three of them ("Trouble," "I'm on a Roll," "Entertaining Thoughts") sound like instant OtR classics. "I'm on a Roll," especially, ranks right up there with "My Love is a Fever" as one of the most whimsical, downright FUN songs they've ever done. And as for the fourth new song, "I Don't Want to Waste Your Time"... well, it still sounds a little rough at this point, and the music sounds far too similar to "Little Did I Know." The lyric is killer, though-- I'm sure it'll end up being a concert-closing highlight if they play with the arrangement a bit.

-- Linford is a helluva storyteller. He didn't say a word in Knoxville last October, but he was talking up a storm last night, sharing stories about his upbringing and how some of the new songs got written. I'd pay money just to hear him talk.

-- They opened with "Latter Days," and the song has never sounded better.

-- Same with "Jesus in New Orleans."

-- Same with "Show Me." And "Lookin' Forward"-- I've heard four or five versions of that song by now, and last night's was far and away the best.

-- I'm leaving to see them play again in about one hour!

Oh, and Hem played some songs too, I think.

Awesome!

I wish I could see them.. the nearest concert they're doing is a good 3 hour drive from here, and since I can't drive yet I'd have to get my dad to drive. And he doesn't even like OtR. So, not gonna happen.

I can't wait until I'm 16...

That's great that they're recording again! A light-hearted album would be fun.. their latest stuff has been pretty somber and gloomy. (Not that it's bad, I actually really like it... but something lighter will be a nice change.)

Now I'm really kicking myself for not going (since wife didn't want to) to last night's Atlanta show.

You should be! I was at that show too, and it was just as strong as the Nashville show. In fact, it may have been even better-- it was more or less the exact same set list, plus four songs.

*weeps* They're playing here in Charlotte tonight, but I can't go.  Such is the life of a married man with a child.  The real problems were two-fold:  1) the show starts at 9:00  2) it is a Monday night.  If it were 9:00 on a Friday, I would go, because a babysitter would be easy to pickup.  *sigh*  Maybe I'll see them when they return to Charlotte in another 10 years.

They tour pretty extensively. They've been in Knoxville three times in the last four years, so surely they'll hit Charlotte again on their next tour.

i feel your pain man. missed seeing Derek Webb & Sandra McCracken for the same reason. but hey, at least Over the Rhine is actually coming to your neck of the woods. so there is always hope they will come back.

Our woods don't even have necks. Our woods have been decapitated to make way for housing developments.

'Round these parts we call it chapparal. Which is a Native American word meaning, "Ugly shrubs that catch fire easily."

You could have tried looking for Karin and Linford earlier that day (or later that night). They stayed at the Best Western.

The show in Chapel Hill was a great show, although it was much too short (just 12 songs). I imagine all the real Over the Rhine fans here have already read my quick scribble on the topic. The rest of you (a.k.a. "the world") can wait until I finish a proper review.

I wonder if it's the same Best Western that I stayed at when I saw U2 in Charlotte? If so, ha! That's awesome.

Funny, I was listening to a lossless recording of "Entertaining Thoughts" just a few hours ago.

Thanks for the tip though....haven't been by the OtR board this week, and I haven't heard "I Don't Want to Waste Your Time" yet!

Of course, don't forget that this show also has "Who Will Guard the Door" - a song that hadn't surfaced in a lossless format yet last time I checked. That should also be a gem....

Sorry, just saw this now.

I recorded it myself at a concert. It's not yet in trade or vine-ready condition.

yeah, later I remembered that you had posted something at the Orchard about recording a show, so I figured that might've been it.
the other day I was able to listen to the song again since the dvd recording of the Asheville show arrived. haha, Karin said something about being invited to sing at the White House and that she might change the words to that song.

I'm surprised they were invited. I'd like to hear how it goes.

Of course, I'm sad that they couldn't do this during the Ohio tour - I'd love to hear them perform a set at the White House that included "Remind Us", "Changes Come", and "How Long Have You Been Stoned".
