i dont have this live album. but i keep hearing this song on the radio and though i havent been able to listen closely to the verses, the chorus seems to hit some truth:

"i dont need no one to tell me 'bout heaven,
i look at my daughter and i believe.
i dont need no proof when it comes to God and Truth,
i look at the sunset and i percieve"

i dont know what the lead singer from live's spiritual/religious stance is, but this seems really cool to me. i dont know, maybe this post should have gone on the faith board, but any comments anyone has about this song, i'd be interested.

the theme reminds me of the answer i received when i asked someone when i was little, "what happens to the people who are born on islands and no  one is there to tell them about the Bible?" and the answer i got was something along the lines of what Live's chorus is saying-- the glory of God is revealed everywhere and He will reach them through that, regardless of there being a Bible or evangelical missionary present.

so, thoughts?

Well, that is in accordance with Romans 1, that man is without excuse because the glory of God is revealed in His creation. But Live's songs tend to embody a lot more New-Agey concepts ('Lightning Crashes' being a prime example) than I like, so I don't really consider them a bastion of Christian lyrics. But those particular lyrics are pretty good. Reminiscent of MxPx's song 'Creation,' though a little more poetic.

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.
