The new Time Machine movie was indeed pretty crappy. IMO it wasn't memorably crappy, but yeah, it wasn't that great.
Holy Grail is one of those movies that I don't like but am glad to have seen because now I can catch references to it that otherwise would sail over my head. Other movies in this category are pretty much all the Mel Brooks movies (Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles...), Animal House, and Caddyshack.

Another horror entry: Leprechaun in Space. There's plenty more where that came from.
I also specifically remember hating "Earth Girls are Easy", but it was so long ago, I don't even remember why.

I loved The Village! But I think I'm in the minority on that one.
And I think Spaceballs and History of the World, Part 1 are excellent entries in the Mel Brooks canon. (Some others, like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, I didn't really get into.)

I love Princess Bride.
I love or like nearly all of Mel Brooks' films.
And I like Holy Grail a lot, though my favorite Python film is Life of Brian.

I'm pretty sure that Python requires a specific sense of humor. I apparently have it, because I've seen that movie 20 times and I still laugh every time. My dad is apparently the same way.

I think I have that sense of humor too. I do like all of the Python films, and a lot of their TV shows as well. As for Mel Brooks, I've found all the movies I've seen from him to be at least amusing. As for The Princess Bride, I went in thinking I was going to hate it, but in the end I ended up liking it quite a bit.

I blame people hating The Village on advertising. People were expecting a horror movie (though they really should know better if they've ever seen a Shyamalan film before). It's kind of like awarding Jars of Clay "Rock Album of the Year". In both cases, good stuff, but not what most people were expecting.

Knowing what we all know of horror movies, expectations shouldn't have run high with that expectation. I haven't seen "The Village" or "Signs" for that matter, so I can't comment on the quality of what's there.

I don't really think of Signs as a horror movie. Unbreakable (the only other Shyamalan I've seen) was certainly not horror as well.

Yeah, I know. I'm merely saying was that expectations shouldn't have run very high if people were expecting a horror movie as an unusually high number of horror movies are garbage anyway.

I liked The Village. I like Princess Bride. I laughed the first time I saw Holy Grail. the second time I watched it I didn't laugh once and fell asleep. but I'm glad that I've seen it so I'm not in the dark about the quotes.
as far as the worst movie I've ever seen, nothing really stands out. there have been movies I've hated or yelled at or simply turned off because I couldn't stand watching anymore, but I guess so far none of them are worthy of being remembered as the worst movie I've ever seen.

The problem with The Village, for me, was it's ending - it was supposed to be another big twist like in all of Shymalan's films, yet this final twist was completely predictable and lame. I liked everything about the film except for the final twist. It's not even what was revealed that was lame, just how Shymalan made it out to be a big surprise.

I must be an idiot, then, because I didn't see that twist coming at all. Maybe the newspaper a minute or so before the "big twist" gave me a good hint. But I was still quite surprised.
Once the "gee whiz" factor of the twist wore off, though, it was the social implications of that twist that really got me thinking. There are a lot of parallels between Walker's world and the "Christian bubble".

I guess my biggest problem with The Princess Bride is that I didn't like it the first time I saw it, and I was forced to watch it with EVERY bus trip during my college years - we're talking two weekends a month for 4 straight years.
That movie just gets worse and worse everytime I watch it.

It's kind of like awarding Jars of Clay "Rock Album of the Year". In both cases, good stuff, but not what most people were expecting. Well, I didn't really expect it to be a horror movie, but I expected it to scare me or frighten me at least once. Nothing. And I consider myself to be very jumpy when it comes to watching tense or scary movies. Even when I see it from a mile away. Okay, so I didn't get scared. No big deal. The characters were boring beyond all reason to me, though, and that sapped a lot of the life out of it. All right, we still have that big twist at the end. It was a decent twist, but the way it was revealed was rather anti-climatic. How about the plot of the movie? Eh, not particularly interesting. I give props for originality, but other than that, pretty lame. What do we have left, then? Nothing, really. Which made me feel cheated out of 2 hours of my life.

It's just that the ending was not very surprising to me, yet it was meant to be a big surprise. I felt very disappointed, seeing how I was completely surprised by the "big twists" in some of his other films, especially "Sixth Sense", yet this one was for me predictable. It's also that Shymalan is becoming just a one-trick pony. I think the fact that I was expecting a big twist didn't help. Yes, I agree about the social implications of the film, which is why I probably would love the film if it weren't for how the ending was done. I loved the cinematography and the characters.

I'm reviving the thread to say I have a new movie at the top of my hate list.
Alien: Resurrection, biggest load of crap I've seen, nonsensical, boring, a butchering of the series. Not that Alien3 was good, but still, that one amused me at points.

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Date Movie. Utterly stupid, lame, retarded, assinine, and even repulsive.
From 2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie? Scary Movie sucked too, but these must have been the worst of the six. I couldn't even finish watching it, it was so un-funny and sickening in its attempts at getting laughs. Made my stomach ache.

It's a shame, because the premise (a romantic comedy spoofing romantic comedies) really was a good one. Unfortunate that these are the people who ended up writing it, I guess.

The Time Machine (new version) Planet of the Apes (new version)
Recently...What Dreams May Come is the worst movie I've seen. Visually it was amazing, but its shallow, poorly developed love story and crappy dialogue filled with many stinker one-liners ruined it for me.
I've seen Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail a few times at least, and there have been times where I've laughed almost nonstop, and others where I only chuckled once or twice. It depends on my mood I guess. But I do like the film myself.

Word. It's by far the best in the series. Plus, I got to watch it for free in Latin class. Movies I didn't like... Time Machine (the new one) The Village Any of the Left Behind Series Movies I wouldn't call it the worst, but I didn't like Pirates of the Caribbean II at all. Maybe part of it was disappointment that it came with.
