Gee... I sure HOPE Hoffman is a sure-thing for Capote. His is certainly the most remarkable performance by an actor I've seen all year-- in fact, it's the best performance ina  bio-pic I've ever seen.

In a perfect world, everyone would be talking about Munich, not Brokeback. But ah, well...

Just a question.  Have you seen Brokeback, Josh?  I haven't, but to make a statement like that, you must have, so I'm just making sure.

Anyway, from my understanding, the only problem with "Munich" when it comes to these awards shows is its campaign.

I haven't seen Brokeback, actually, and you're right-- I'm really not in a position to make a statement like that, though it is an educated guess based on reviews I've read, and on how freaking awesome Munich is. But I'll be fair and retract it.

For what its worth, my reasons for having a negative impression of Brokeback have more to do with its reportedly dubious craftsmanship than the whole homosexual thing, though I'd likely have moral issues with the film, as well.

Fwiw, I've seen 13 of those films, and 3 of them have yet to open here in Knoxville. (One of those being Match Point, which actually opens in, oh... about two hours. I plan to see it tomorrow.)

I wouldn't be too sure about 'moral issues'. The story is hardly pro- or anti-anything. It's a what-if, not a why-that. No preaching (thank God).

Surprised Walk the Line was left out of Picture of the Year, considering the momentum it seemed to be building through the smaller awards. But I am pleased to see Crash on there. Very good movie.

I saw Munich in Best Picture and thought of you Josh.  Talk about a surprise nomination.

I've seen so few of the nominees - only two of the Best Picture ones. Last year I had seen all five. Oh well.

Go Munich! (All right, it has no chance in hell.)
