Howdy, ya'll.  I would like to request prayer for my 14-year old nephew, David.  As just a little background, he recently had a rough bout with the flu.  Over the past week or so, he developed a lot of pin-prick type red spots all over his arm, and they spread all over his body.  This is a symptom of leukemia.  He went into the doctor today for a blood test, and they found that he had a low blood platelet level.  The doctor said that the flu, the spots, and the platelet level could all be caused by some type of viral infection, and wasn't being overly negative to my sister.  However, all of these are also symptoms of leukemia, which the doctor confirmed.  David goes back in for another blood test on Wednesday.  If his platelet levels have not increased, he will go in for testing for leukemia.  A tough prospect for anyone, let alone a 14-year old.  So please keep him in prayer.  I really hope I can report back to you that it was just a virus.  Thanks for reading.

DGP, thanks for sharing this with us. We'll be praying for wisdom for the doctors, courage for the family, and, Lord willing, healing for the boy.

I never thought I would write this, but I'll pray for a virus and, of course, healing if that's not what it is or even if it is.

Quick update - the doctor's machine wasn't working today, so his results don't come in tomorrow.  However, the doctor did say that he looked better today, and that he's becoming less concerned.  A good sign, and hopefully I'll have good news tomorrow.  Thanks for your thoughts & prayers.  I told him about ya'll, and he said to say thanks from him, too.

Well, thanks for your prayers, pholks.  David's blood work finally came back late yesterday, and everything was back to normal and his spotting has all but disappeared.  So it appears it was, indeed, some type of virus and that all is well.  Thanks again for your prayers...much appreciated!
