http://www.ourneworleans.net/player.htmlOur New Orleans is a benefit album of jazz and blues and dirty brass. It is a "fonky gumbo" of New Orleans spirituals and sultry cajun music drifting over from the bayou. The album features covers of originals that have become very poignant in the wake of the tragedy and also original songs by well established artists. Several of the talented artists playing lost their homes and all their material possessions in the hurricane; they play their songs with passion and honesty. These songs are convincing and hopeful.
I would post some songs in the Pub, but I lost the CD a while ago.

But I am here to tell you guys that this is a great CD for a great cause. Visit the site to listen to some songs. Joe Henry produces on a few tracks, and I know some of you are pretty keen on his music.
I have trouble describing the music now because it's been a few months since I've last heard to it. All I remember is the convincing performances and the timely, relevant hope. These songs are sometimes despondent, sometimes heartbroken... but it is moved by a well worn, "lived in" hope.
