"Days Were Golden" - Sunny Day Real Estate (the brilliant closer of the brilliant album "How It Feels To Be Something On." the weird/cool thing about this album is that i like it more with each listen. i've yet to be bored with it in 8 years of listening!)

Okkervil River's album "Black Sheep Boy."

a friend told me about this band. they sound sort of like Pedro the Lion meets The Shins from what i've heard so far.

"1000 Miles Apart" by downhere.  Man, this is so different from anything else by downhere.  My wife actually said, "Is this The Shins?" when I played it last night in the car.  Great song from a fantastic album.

No Doubt, "Don't Speak." Is it wrong that I still really dig this song-- and this band?

^it seems a little out of the ordinary given the kind of thing you normally recommend, but it's not wrong.

I've been listening to a lot of Interpol and Sigur Ros this week.

It's not wrong to like that song considering that is when the band was at its best.

Listening to Jody Davis' solo album.  Out of the 2 Newsboys who released solo albums, this is the best one by far.  Jody Davis blows Phil Joel out of the water in talent and lyricism.  I always wonder why we never heard this from Jody while he was in the Newsboys.  Being in the band seemed to hinder his musical curiousity and expression.  This album is good rock'n'roll.

my wife has owned Tragic Kingdom since it came out. she still listens to it on occasion. i think the only reason she doesn't listen to it more is because Gwen has turned into a 'superdiva' who doesn't even resemble the 'ska rocker Gwen' she was in No Doubt. Tragic Kingdom is a great album overall. the guitar riffs are killer. but anything beats the "Hollaback Girl" stuff she's putting out there now.

Yeah.. I heard No Doubt, liked it. Then I heard Gewn's stuff on the radio a few weeks after that.. and had no clue that Gewn was the singer of No Doubt until I looked them up on Wikipedia. Yeah, she's much better in No Doubt.

I've been listening to Danielson - Ships every day since it came in the mail.  I really love it.
I've also been on a Jars of Clay kick lately.  I had forgotten many of their songs I used to really like, feels like I'm discovering them all over again.

I've  been doing the same thing lately.. I played them so much that I just got tired of it, but now I'm playing them again and it reminding me of all these songs that they did I really really liked.

I can't wait till Good Monsters comes out. August, right?

The Beatles - Got to Get You Into My Life "Revolver"

I downloaded most/all(?) (torrents rock! :P) of The Beatles albums on a whim.. and I'm actually liking a lot of it, which is odd because I usually can't stand classic rock. I've never really listened to them before.
