Listening to The Fray and reminding myself why this band is extremely overrated. The singer's voice hurts my ears due to him having a totally nasal sound. It's annoying and I don't find this band appealing. I don't understand the hype and why this video is played all the time on tv.

i can easily hear why. they are something special, that's for certain. i only wish i had gotten into them sooner. this album is breath-taking. i may even like it as much as Heaven or Las Vegas.

OCMS is very good. They have been around for a few years but are just getting alot of pub now. They were featured in the August issue of Relix magazine and gained many new fans via that article.

Would you believe that I'm currently enjoying Blood Mountain, the new metal/progressive thrash (is that even a genre?) album from Mastadon? It's loud, angry, and, well, thrashing, but it's also full of wisdom and lyricism.

Newsboys - GoBLEEEAAARRRRRGH. So far my initial feelings are not positive. I think there are a few fairly good songs, and too many boring ones. But this is a step up from those worship albums and perhaps future efforts will return the band to respectability.

Yeah, I love that one, but mostly for its musicianship (which is normal for the way I approach metal). It's the best metal album this year, easily, and it'd be interesting to see a take that focuses more on its lyrics since that really didn't stand out for me. I'm listening to a lot of the new Califone album, which is just rootsy and experimental enough that I think it would be right up your alley, Josh.

I'm honestly feeling even worse about Go than thier worship albums. Stylistically...it reminds me of the "Praises" bonus track found in Shine...the Hits and its remix in Adoration...a dancey, ccm-worship, remix-album feel...I don't think it was nearly interesting or strong enough of a style to base an entire new batch of songs on.
