Pandora

Anyone ever tried this before?  you enter a band or song name and their software creates a playlist with artists and songs similar to the one you entered.  For instance, I entered Sunny Day Real Estate and it has created a playlist for me that includes Guided By Voices, Pedro The Lion, Early Day Miners, Feeder, etc.

I put in Over The Rhine and got these artists on a playlist: Bodeans, Cowboy Junkies, Melanie Doane, The Cardigans, and Loquat.

Pretty neat site

Interesting site.  Earlier I put in Jars of Clay and it came out with a playlist consisting of The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up, Bebo Norman, Eric Matthews, Mark Geary, Sarah Brendel and Feeder.  I was surprised as to how much I actually liked the Sarah Brendel song too.

My current pub songs:
Andrew Peterson: "The Reckoning (How Long)" (from Counting Stars)
Jars of Clay: "Out of My Hands" (from an upcoming release)
The Mynabirds: "Numbers Don't Lie" (from What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood)

I put in The Evan Anthem and got Anberlin (and though I like them, not seeing any major similarity) and... The Evan Anthem.  blink

There's a comma in the link. Replace it and it works.

Sorry if I'm bumping a half-dead topic, but I thought you all might be interested in this:
http://alexkpatterson.blogspot.com/2005/11...om-pandora.html

Basically... Pandora caches the music you listen to as MP3, so you can save it and listen to it whenever if you know how. Downside is that the music is only 128kbps MP3.. but for free its not bad.

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Damn, it's gonna take a while! I don't have time - scrambled! -- Mitch Hedberg

Well, now you can have both: Last-dora. Just enter in your last.fm name and password when the site comes up, then do your normal pandora stuff.

A fan of both sites worked up an interface that lets you listen to Pandora and have the songs added to your Last.fm list.
