I saw The Quick and the Dead with some friends a few nights ago, and I was shocked: it wasn't bad. With the number of big names (and names I often dislike), plus the fact that it's a western, I thought it would be a stinker. But Russell Crowe's character was a good one and he did it well (I don't like the man, but he can do some good work), Gene Hackman was superb, and Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Kid' was SUPPOSED to be annoying, so he was perfectly cast.

So what's up with that? I guess there's a first time for everything.

I'm not a fan of any of those big names, either, though Leo was great in Catch Me If You Can. And since I can't think of many good westerns off the top of my head (does Blazing Saddles count?), I might want to check this one out.

Yeah, CMIYK was a good flick. And do take a look at it...there's enough violence (albiet comically exaggerated enough to be more humerous than grotesque) that it might not be a good one to see with the fam, but still a worthwhile movie.

"Unforgiven" with Eastwood as an actor and director, is very good.  Watch that one sometime.
