I don't have enough yet! Oh well, I'm young, and many are in the mail. Blame it on the USPS!
Out of what I do have, my favorite albums are: 1. U2: Pop 2. U2: All That You Can't Leave Behind 3. U2: Actung Baby 4. Bruce Springsteen: The Rising 5. U2: Zooropa
Get back to me at the end of the summer. Others I'd consider (that I already have): Michael Hutchence (s/t) Bruce Springsteen: Darkness on the Edge of Town Kevin Max: Stereotype Be Lisa Marie Presley: To Whom It May Concern U2: War U2: The Joshua Tree Garth Brooks: Double Live Caedmon's Call: Long Line of Leavers
Still sorting out my favorites by Willie Nelson, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and the Beatles.

Automatic is a good pick- it's one of REM's best, musically- but I prefer the stronger writing of Reveal. Still, good to hear from another REM fan!

Wow... that is kind of sad! I don't know anything about your musical preferences, but I'd imagine you'd be most likely to enjoy All That You Can't Leave Behind, Films for Radio, or Reveal.

you think you feel out of place here? How do you find obscure bands like that and how do you find out if they are good? Although many are talented, most small bands are completely ignored by radio and the press. I'm curious how you sort out the wheat from the chaff ,so to speak.

A lot of times, I'll just go looking at record label websites and mp3.com. or I'll hear from a friend, "yeah, this band is good." also, there's this magazine called Alternative Press that is a good source for these bands. I download a lot of music, and some I don't like, some I do, but I've found a lot of really good bands from just randomly trying stuff out.
