So, remember that whole Father, Son, and Spirit thing?

Well, apparently, that's too sexist. So says the PCUSA church, anyway, who have just "received" a new motion to allow forreferring to the members of the Trinity as Mother, Child, and Womb.

Wow.

Story here.

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Damn, it's gonna take a while! I don't have time - scrambled! -- Mitch Hedberg

And can you imagine praying to a womb?

Note that the PCUSA has not "approved" of this; they have merely "received" it. Much like the denomination as a whole does not "approve" of ordaining homosexuals, but any individual church or presbytery may do as they wish in this regard.  wacko

this madness would not be funny even as a joke. it is beyond depressing to know that people entrusted with church doctrinal positions handed this down with straight faces. shame on them for making a mockery of the Trinity. surely they will recant this at some point? have Protestants forgotten what they are protesting?

Well, to be fair, Tom, this is the PCUSA we're talking about. At this point I'm not even sure if we can call them a church anymore, quite frankly. This kind of thing certainly doesn't surprise me coming from them.

I didn't see "womb" coming at all.  It was like, two approximatley comparable expressions, and then "womb".

Father comparable to Mother (opposite gender)
Son comparable to Child (gender neutralized)
Holy Spirit comparable to Womb, which wasn't gender specific in the first place?

Who are these doofi?

Why not use the gender-neutral "parent?"

That would still be extrabiblical-- and contrary to the example set by Christ Himself-- but yeah, if you're going to mess with God's Word and break from orthodoxy, that would make more sense, wouldn't it?

The PCUSA has also made something vaguely resembling a moral stance against abortion.

At least they did SOMETHING right...
