Question before I do it: Do we put our players on shuffle and the first song that comes up is the Opening Credits song, the second song that comes up is Waking Up, and so on? Or do we go through 30 songs and pick which ones fit the best (or worst)?

basically the first way, but if it's funnerer to pick and choose from random songs, go for it. I basically kept to the shuffle order but skipped a song or two.

I'm lazy so I'll do the former. I decided to pick lyrics that fit best into the situation.
Opening Credits: Mars Ill - Sound Off "I'm the underdog passed over in your brackets My Cinderella story is true because it happens."
Waking Up: Celldweller - The Last Firstborn "I guess there comes a point when you think to yourself 'This isn't worth it, it isn't worth it'."
Falling in Love: Norma Jean - Vertabraille (Choke That Thief Called Dependence) "Was there love once Or have I forgotten her?"
Fight scene: Switchfoot - Playing For Keeps "Do me a favor Tell me when to let go 'Cause I think I'm holding on."
Breaking up: Skillet - Savior "What you want What you need Everything's gonna crash and break."
Getting back together: Sleeping At Last - Tension and Thrill "Love is tension and thrill That begs to be ours."
Secret Love: Further Seems Forever - For All We Know "All that you thought would disappear Is waiting right here And all that you hold deep in your soul Can never be sold"
Life's okay: Steve Taylor - I Want To Be A Clone "I asked the Lord into my heart they said that was the way to start."
Mental breakdown: Fate's Warning - One "Knowing at a glance Where we all stand Searching for another chance."
Driving: Newsboys - Shine "Oprah freaks and science seeks a rationale that shall excuse this strange behavior."
Flashback: Gorillaz - Every Planet We Reach Is Dead "When you go back All the second selfless days You're in love with him I love you... But, what are we going to do?"
Partying: Five Iron Frenzy - I Feel Lucky "I found a dollar It's like a dream I love this place My slurpee is so green."
Happy dance: U2 - 40 "I will sing a new song How long to sing this song?"
Regretting: Five Iron Frenzy - When I Go Out "When I go out I play in the street I get hit by cars I make mashed potatoes I get hit by cars."
Long night alone: U2 - Elevation "I've lost all self-control Been living like a mole Now going down, excavation."
Death scene: Fanmail - Superfan "Move slow, get low Back off and burn out."
Ending credits: Staple - Impressionable "But the song ends, and so plays the all too familiar last note Leading so gracefully into the song that only I wrote Whisked away, now holding onto a memory of the song I once knew. Complacent, yet remembering how I felt when I felt you."

For the most part, this ended up being very wacky.
Opening Credits: "Can't End This Way" The Roosevelts Comment: So I apparently have an untimely death. Spooky.
Waking Up: "History Maker" delirious? Comment: This will work, especially given the "I want to be a history maker" line.
Falling in Love: "5 Years to Write" John Reuben Comment: If you disregard the fact that the song was written five years into the future, this song actually works pretty well.
Fight scene: "Bliss" delirious? Comment: The music and the line "I'm not backing down" might actually make this work.
Breaking up: "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" The Jayhawks Comment: If the kind of behavior described in the song (since it is a tad bit obsessive) is what caused the breakup, then I can see this.
Getting back together: "Only One" Goo Goo Dolls Comment: There's the line, "I am the only one who stays", but other than that, this song doesn't make a lot of sense here.
Secret Love: "911" Fireflight Comment: We have a song about September 11. That has to be one VERY interesting secret love.
Life's okay: "Progress" Mute Math Comment: Dream-like instrumentation, and the lyrics are appropriate here.
Mental breakdown: "Open Up The Sky" FFH Comment: Maybe listening to this song too much will cause a mental breakdown?
Driving: "If I" Strange Celebrity Comment: The lyrics aren't specific to driving, but the music works pretty well.
Flashback: "Crazy Times" Jars of Clay Comment: I can definitely see this one fitting.
Partying: "Pray For Rain" PFR Comment: Huh? This doesn't make a lot of sense.
Happy dance: "On My Cross" FFH Comment: This doesn't make ANY sense!
Regretting: "Whirlpools" Fighting Jacks Comment: I don't see the connection here.
Long night alone: "Carried Away" Sonicflood Comment: I don't see the connection here either.
Death scene: "Go and Sin No More" Rebecca St. James Comment: Duh. I can't sin anymore. I'm already dead.
Ending credits: "We May Sing" The Pool Boys Comment: So apparently my life was one big worship service.
That was interesting...for the wrong reasons.

Alright, I'm gonna have to try this. If a song makes no sense whatsoever, I'm just going to skip it. If it fits in an ironic or amusing (or actually appropriate!) way, I'll keep it. I like plvarona's style of commenting on them all, so I'll try that.
Opening Credits: "Lift My Eyes", Jill Paquette Works, in an "Opening credits for a sitcom" sort of way.
Waking Up: "Beyond the Surface", Kutless Yeah, that'll wake me up. I'll come tearing out of bed in a frenzied rush to shut the damn thing off.
Falling in Love: "Divine Invitation", Something Like Silas More of a spiritual song, but the instrumentation certainly makes me feel all gooey inside, so this definitely works.
Fight scene: "Sorry", 4th Avenue Jones Works if it's a relationship fight.
Breaking up: "The Downtown King", The Elms Apparently I got dumped for being a self-centered ass.
Getting back together: "China White", He Is Legend Apparently I won her back by trespassing on her property and pruning her roses for her. I AM YOUR GARDENER!!!!! What girl wouldn't swoon?
Secret Love: "Slipped Away", Avril Lavigne Dude, that sucks. Apparently my secret lover died.
Life's okay: "Chicago (Adult Contemporary Version)", Sufjan Stevens Sounds pretty mellow and resigned to just let life be, so that works.
Mental breakdown: "Walking Away", Mat Kearney Has kind of a detached, dejected feel to it, so it works.
Driving: "Worlds Apart", Jars of Clay Works if it's the kind of long, quiet drive when you have a lot on your mind.
Flashback: "Chart the Unknown", The Basics This is an indie song that I loved in my college days, so it definitely gives me flashbacks toa simpler time.
Partying: "Enid", Barenaked Ladies That's gotta be one of the dorkiest parties I've ever attended, but it's upbeat in that "goofy, awkward teenager" sort of way, which kind of resembles how I dance.
Happy dance: "Run for Your Life", Robert Randolph This came up for "Regretting", but I swapped the two because it made more sense this way. Fun, jaunty little instrumental tune, you could dance to it.
Regretting: "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been", Relient K See? That worked out perfectly. The regret is obvious just from the title.
Long night alone: "The Eleventh Hour", Jars of Clay The eleventh hour is just befoer midnight, and this song kind of drags, and it pleads for rescue, so it works.
Death scene: "I Love You to Death (Drive Safe)", The Juliana Theory Apparently I die in a car crash. Creepy.
Ending credits: "Lest I Forget", Rebecca St. James This would work if my screen name was PaulDA.

Note: This is done without regards to whether or not the songs make any sense at all. I'll come back through and do one like that later maybe.
Opening Credits: Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me And My Monkey-- The Beatles (I get a kick out of this because if I had a theme in real life... this song would be it, simply because it'd be hilarious.)
Waking Up: You Better You Bet-- The Who (The thoughts of a sex obsessed man in the morning... or something.)
Falling in Love: Drive My Car-- The Beatles
Fight scene: Only Alive-- Jars of Clay (Which I suppose could make sense if you put it in the context of a romantic fight...)
Breaking up: Agnus Dei-- Rufus Wainwright (When I think about it, it works... simply because this version of the song is so bombastic and plain weird.)
Getting back together: Drunkard's Prayer-- Over the Rhine (Works perfectly.)
Secret Love: Thou Lovely Source Of True Delight-- Jars of Clay (The name works at least.)
Life's okay: Octopus's Garden-- The Beatles (Fine... in a tripped out way)
Mental breakdown: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart-- Wilco (Works surprisingly well if viewed from an outside perspective...)
Driving: Darn That Dream-- Miles Davis
Flashback: Broken Beads-- The New Pornographers
Partying: Save Me-- Aimee Man
Happy dance: Little People-- The White Stripes
Regretting: Temporary Remedy-- Ben Harper
Long night alone: Give A Man A Home-- Ben Harper
Death scene: Within You Without You-- The Beatles
Ending credits: Ballon Jaune-- The Evan Anthem ("I'm gonna see you again..." Heck Yes)
Kinda weird... that ended up working pretty well.

The object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid. ~ GK Chesterton "Better to keep quiet and make people suspect you're stupid than to open your mouth and totally confirm it" -- a friend of mine.

okay, I have to do some thread resurrection because somehow I ended up reading in here and I noticed this: Ending credits: "All Along the Watchtower," Bob Dylan "'There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late'"
