I've been watching the red chair series on flickr and find it a continual joy so I thought I'd share. feel free to add other photos in this thread. if you took them, all the better! (please keep this a thread for nice/artistic/awww cute pictures rather than for crude humor, look-what-bizarre-thing-I-found-on-the-web ones.)

My flickr page (see the link in my profile) is basically pictures of my daughter. An easy subject to photograph, that's for sure.

http://people.cs.vt.edu/~ppyla/pictures/02%20VT/index.htmlThese are some nice pictures of Virginia Tech...I am especially fond of this one. If you click on the Pictures link at the top of the page, you can see more of his pictures. This picture in the "Colors" page is also quite striking. I actually know this guy, though I didn't know he was a photographer until I visited his site.

this image is currently my desktop wallpaper. Wow, that's awesome! Hard to believe how much that tree changed in only 8 days.

Heh... yeah, that second one is a great shot, schil, though my personal favorite of the two is the first one, only because it reminds me of the greatness of Rick Plant.

I wanted to both vent my frustration at traffic and prove that my home-grown photo displaying system can properly work with real photos rather than just video game stuff, so I took some actual pictures and put them here. The thing isn't really designed for the ludicrously-large photos my camera takes, so if you have a small display and they don't really fit on the page then sorry :/

Heh.
The problem is that traffic is at a standstill on I-40, where you can usually expect to average about 70MPH. It took me about two hours longer one way than the other thanks to the traffic. And of course, as is usually with these Inexplicable Slowdowns, eventually traffic picks back up again and you never figure out precisely why it slowed to a crawl in the first place.

yeah, you say traffic was stopped, but all I see are huge gaps between the cars. XD I did a quick flickr search on Los Angeles traffic. here is traffic moving nicely on the 405. (on the right side of the line of trees is Sepulveda Blvd, which is what I take rather than the 405.)

I-40 is like that too (albiet with fewer lanes most of the time) when it's moving well. I'm sure that you've had this experience at some point too, though: a normally well-moving highway slows to a crawl and traffic only moves in fits and starts. If through some freak of fate you haven't experienced this, go to Silicon Valley and try to drive from El Camino Real to US-101 at rush hour.
The gaps between my vehicle and the car in front of me are because I'm screwing around with my camera when I'm supposed to be inching along. Other gaps are probably just because, at various points, some cars are moving while other cars are standing still. Heavy traffic moving at a good pace may actually have shorter distances between the cars just because they're all moving at the same speed.
Of course, I didn't post the pictures in an attempt to compete with California as far as traffic is concerned.

It was just too much to resist, so I took one of those photos and lolcat-ified it (see attached).

the sleeping pictures just get funnier the more there are. they make me think of that creepy Miranda planet in Serenity though. also I think there is something creepy about piles of Asians sleeping everywhere. I want them to stop it. what is wrong with them?

Since we discussed my brother in the Mur10k thread, I thought I'd post photographic proof that he did, in fact, eventually graduate: That would be my brother and his wife, as taken, judging by the picture quality, with my parents' disposable camera.

Be careful when hiking, because you might encounter the dreaded tree pirate. That is some serious junk in the trunk.

I was wondering why some of the links didn't work, then I noticed the date this thread started.
