What's the problem (aside from your irrational hatred for Kanye)?

Moreso, you should defend why you think so many of those people are better than Adele. What are you basing your opinion on? Are you talking about pure vocal ability or the total package?
my hate for Kanye is not irrational. I've always given him credit as a producer but I think he is overrated and just average as a rapper and is a bad singer. I also can't give credit to him and jokes like Ke$ha who have to use autotune to cover their large vocal flaws. Ke$ha is maybe one step above BEP and LMFAO
From a musical standpoint, Gaga is the most talented and well-rounded (and that's why I wish she would focus more on the music and not the gaudy costumes, stageshows, personas.
I have no opinion on Nadia Oh so I'll have to take your word for it.

Who cares about vocal ability? Who cares if someone uses autotune? This isn't the opera. I'm rating these artists based on the finished product, I don't care what they did to get there or who helped them along the way.
And who cares if Kanye can rap or sing. We're not at the Olympics, this is music. Kanye understands sound.

Autotune is a copout, that's the problem. As a pop star and performer, i'll agree that Kanye is at the top of the game. It doesn't mean I have to concede that he's actually good at the music aspect of it. I like him until he gets in front of the mic. That's where he loses some people, incluing me. Him producing and creating the music? Good. Just don't sing or rap. Be the brains and let other people do the vocal performing

We will agree to disagree. I just put more emphasis on musical ability and talent. That matters more to me than commercial appeal, pop stardom, and being a showman.

Kanye has character and he has things to say. I don't want anyone else singing for him, even if he's not pretty. And autotune isn't a cop out, it's an enhancement, when used wisely. Wish someone like K$, authenticity of her voice is not part of the picture, and was never meant to be. Same for Daft Punk. But anyways, enjoy the fact that some people are talented while I enjoy actual music (stardom and commercial appeal having nothing to do with it, otherwise Nadia wouldn't be on my list... though she is certainly a showman).

I'm pleased to report that in the eons that have passed since I started this thread, the following have reunited and/or started recording again. ...
Guardian is also back in the game....they have an EP out and are in the studio i believe right now.

I'm OK with Autotune here and there. As long as it's not overused, or covering a lack of ability to stay on key. It's a gimmick that can add texture to a song. Even Bon Iver has used it.

Like Bon Iver is any better than your typical pop fodder Just because he's a sad man with a guitar doesn't mean he's worth listening to. Though now that you mention, his autotuned songs are not too shabby (especially when Kanye is in the studio).

The point is that there's a use for it beyond the typical "robot voice in a vaguely urban song" thing. For some artists it's part of the collage of sounds. ("Sad man with a guitar" also doesn't even halfway cover it, but anyway.)

Well if your point is sound, then yes I agree The problem with autotune is when people stop there, and everyone on the radio sounds the same. If your voice sucks and you need to correct it, fine, but at least do something to distinguish yourself from the sea of other people using the same effect.

I agree. The example I gave was something that I wouldn't expect to hear on the radio, anyway.
