I lost interest after wasting my money on Suck Out The Poison. I'm listening to It Hates You for the first time right now.
It Hates You is leagues better than Suck Out The Poison. I'm pretty excited about their new album.

I randomly started listening to One Deed by Tony Vincent today, so I decided to look him up. Apparently he's been in some major Broadway musicals and now he's about to be a contestant on the next season of The Voice. http://www.tonyvincent.com/pages/news/

I was aware of that musical, but I had no clue he had anything to do with it.

Apparently he originated the role of St. Jimmy, and then Billie Joe Armstrong himself took over that role when Vincent left (others have played it since then).

MOG is apparently free (with ads) now, more or less adopting the Spotify model. Seems to be better organized than Grooveshark, no separate client to download, one can just facebook login, so sure, why not?

Jeremy Larson, Darren King (Mute Math), and Stacy DuPree (Eisley) have formed a band called Sucré and will be releasing an album on April 10th. http://sucrediaries.blogspot.com/

I like what Overstreet did with his list for this year, but his link on #2 is about 3 years off the one he's looking for (I'll let him know). Still, it's refreshing to see next to so many other lists populated with "remarkable enough" music that I suspect will have a relatively short shelf life. http://lookingcloser.org/2012/01/looking-closers-favorite-albums-of-2011/

It was leaked in 2010 but it didn't actually release until January 2011.

I want to say the band mailed out their album to fans early, but I really can't remember. *edit* Ah - from their website: THE LONG SURRENDER:
Our brand new record, THE LONG SURRENDER, produced by Joe Henry, with an amazing cast of musical conjurers is available now exclusively at overtherhine.com. It doesn't officially hit record stores until the first week of February, 2011, but we've got CD's now for the faithful. If you order, you can download the music immediately, and the CD's ship immediately as well.
Also, we expect to have the first shipment of THE LONG SURRENDER on deluxe GATEFOLD VINYL in our hands by this friday. If you'd like to order the vinyl, we're quite sure you'll have them to you in time for Christmas. Drop the needle on a snowy night. So, confirmed, although I'm still counting it in 2011. It would certainly be Overstreet's #1 if he counted it the same way.

Pitchfork has a multi-part documentary up about one of the best albums of the 90s, The Soft Bulletin.

Oooh - the tuneyards album won this years Pazz and Jop critics poll. Surprising, and quite deserved.

Wow, I thought for sure it would've been PJ Harvey or Bon Iver, based on all of the year-end lists I'd seen. Can't believe Bon Iver finished all the way down at nine. Maybe the article that was written last year accusing the younger voters of blindly following Pitchfork caused some critics to take a different approach.

I was actually surprised to see Bon Iver rank so high in so many polls. I really like the album, but parts of it feel a bit incomplete to me. It's a good Honorable Mention.

It's not at all incomplete, I don't think, but it's all very vague which may not be to some tastes. It's a solid choice for a top album.

bon iver was one of the most manipulative yet boring albums i've ever heard. the best song is nothing but a pleasant idea that doesn't even belong on the album (beth). emma was unsurprisingly a one hit wonder. shame not that it's surprising to see it place highly. all hipsters need is background music to smoke to and they're set

I hate that Disintegration is never top 10 on these lists. Doolittle is a good pick, but I would have went with Disintegration, The Joshua Tree, or The Queen Is Dead.

Disintegration is wonderful. Daydream Nation is still the album to beat, IMO (also didn't make the top ten), but those are all good choices, to be sure.

Daydream Nation has been on my radar for awhile, but I've not yet listened to it. I keep waiting for a copy to pop up at the bookstore, but it's become apparent that those who own it, won't part with it. Also, why is metal snubbed in this (and Pitchfork's) list? RIDE THE LIGHTNING!

RE: Daydream Nation - do you Spotify?
Master of Puppets is great, as well. I've got Daydream Nation on a playlist of stuff I need to listen to on Spotify, but I'll move it up so it plays after I finish the album I'm currently listening to.

I don't have the link but the Pitchfork review of Lana Del Rey's album was vicious and hilarious (and I usually tell Pitchfork to screw off)

FACT review was quite good.
