Because too much music is repetitive, cliched, unoriginal, uncreative; and I get sick of hearing the same things, and the list goes on and on...

Hey, speaking of getting sick of hearing the same things...

Speaking of The Myriad, their song "A Clean Shot" is in next week's downloadable song pack for Rock Band. Awesome!

My wife claimed that she heard "Bullet" somewhere recently, which is awesome, but I don't remember that one being a single.

I think it was his first or second single on Christian radio, can't remember though.

My Hy-Vee (about the biggest grocery store chain in the midwest for those who don't know) plays Radiohead - Reckoner, which I find lolable due to Hy-Vee's constant attempt to portray themselves as happy smiley friendly.

I'm with Ian in that I also think "Bullet" was a single on Christian radio.  However, I think it was a later single.  If I recall correctly, "Undeniable" was first single, followed by "Trainwreck."  Regardless as to the release sequence, I am almost 100% sure "Bullet" was a single on some format.  I say this because I know I put it on my personal chart, and I only chart singles, although my definition of that has gotten a lot more liberal as of late.

I'm pretty sure she didn't hear it in a Christian radio context, though - she was in a store or something, and it wasn't the Christian music store, and we have to go all the way to the O.C. to find a Chik-Fil-A.

In that case, I don't believe "Bullet" was a single on Mainstream radio.  However, I've heard obscure album tracks in stores and restaurants before, so I wouldn't put it past someone to just pop that song in from out of nowhere.

Yeah, that could be. I was once in an ice cream shop that had the complete works of Eisley on random (which at the time was one album and a whole lot of B-sides), so you never know.

We sang Starfield's "Cry in My Heart" during church service yesterday, which surprised me, because we've never done any Starfield songs (other than "Hosanna", which we got from Hillsongs before Starfield covered it), and that seemed like one of the more off-the-beaten-path ones.

Then, as a presentational song, a woman did a hula-type interpretive dance to Sara Groves' "You are the Sun". I had forgotten what a good song that was, since I largely ignored the album that it came from.

Heard U2's "Red Light" at B.J.'s pizza last night - old U2 is expected, but that's a bit of an odd pick for old U2.

Heard Plumb's "In My Arms" at a Subway today.

while I was waiting to get my hair cut I randomly noted a country/rap/crap song that mentioned potato salad. I was like, what the frak.

later I watched the pilot episode of Saving Grace and heard the same potato salad song. seriously, what the frickin' frak.

I'm hungry for potato salad now.

but please no more country/rap/crap music.

So I was watching the trailer for the new Prince of Persia game and the background music for the trailer is a Sigur Ros song. I was not expecting that. It did fit well with it, though.

While shopping at Rooms To Go Kids, three songs in a row were played on their video monitor that shared these traits - I knew them, like them, and are by Christians.

In order:
1.  Aly & AJ - "Potential Break Up Song"  Yeah, I know, I like an Aly & AJ song.  Not surprised it was being played.
2.  Fireflight - "Unbreakable"  The only song I like on their new album.  Kind of surprised it was being played.
3.  Brooke Fraser - "Shadowfeet"  So I was really surprised this was being played.  A praise & worship artist that, as far as I know, has received little recognition for her solo efforts.  Great song, though.

Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" was played in the opening moments of the new 90210 last night (which I noticed while flipping channels). I didn't stick around to see what other bands would get their name sullied by having their music pimped on that show.

I never watched the old show and didn't see a reason to start watching the new one. I don't think I could sit through any scripted show on the WB at this point, other than Everybody Hates Chris.

Glad to see someone with common sense.  I have that overall feeling of 99% of shows that were/are on WB, UPN, and CW.

I enjoyed Beauty and the Geek until they tweaked its premise one too many times. The Star Trek spinoffs used to air on UPN and I have an affinity for those (though not so much for Voyager, but it was entertaining sci-fi at times). Those were definitely fish out of water, though.

I once quipped that the ideal UPN show would be about a family of Black supermodels on a starship.

I was in La Salsa (a local Mexican, Baja Fresh-type place) last night when I heard this song in Spanish with a chorus melody that you could totally sing Switchfoot's "Stars" along to. I had to listen carefully to the Spanish lyrics, and translate what little I could, to convince myself it wasn't actually a cover. Seriously, it was frighteningly close.

I knew that was coming ever since the moment I saw that album cover. Really disappointed that they chose to give Coldplay as far from the benefit of the doubt as they could manage regarding the religious themes in the lyrics, though. Sure, "Yes" could be about sexual temptation. It's about the fact that resisting temptation is difficult. Is this not the unfortunate truth?

On the Coldplay topic, the acoustic version of "Lost!" was in last week's episode of Brothers & Sisters.

They really need to think about the differences between art and pornography a little deeper - that's all I'm getting at.  "Liberty Leading the People", correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not really a visual arts guy, is considered a masterpiece and is displayed in the Louvre, right?  In any event, it isn't porn.

Of course, the review itself is a joke as it is more often than not.

I'm guessing they might have an audience in mind who is too young to understand the difference - or, more accurately, parents of that audience. I can understand wanting to help parents be aware of what their kids might be listening to, but being so dismissive about it, both in terms of assuming the worst about lyrical content that is very open to interpretation and about the cover art, hurts more than it helps.

Ever seen the "Unnecessary Censorship" segment on Jimmy Kimmel? This sort of reminds me of that - by censoring something that really isn't all that tittilating, it makes it look like what's under there could be a lot worse than what's actually there.

Of course, the review itself is a joke as it is more often than not.

Agreed. This one's especially disappointing because they'll usually at least list the religious themes under the "pro-social content" heading. I think they fail to give teens credit for developing the ability to think for themselves and not take everything at face value. Then again, maybe the people who write for PluggedIn have not yet developed that ability, and therefore, anything left open to interpretation positively baffles them.

Here's a pretty weird one: The untitled intro track from Andrew Bird's album The Mysterious Production of Eggs was used in a rather esoteric ad for Marriott hotels featuring a ballet dancer hanging from streamers tied to the ceiling, or something like that.

Fleet Foxes' SNL appearance consisted of some surprising song choices: "Mykonos" and "Blue Ridge Mountains". Both exquisite songs, but both were a bit rushed (probably for time considerations), with their intros clipped and teh tempos sped up a hair. One of the dudes in the band has this really creepy non-expression on his face that totally makes him look like Peter Sarsgaard.

Today, while out at lunch, the restaurant had the TV tuned to an ice skating competition, and a girl was skating to Vienna Teng's "Lullabye for a Stormy Night" (which it what perked my ears up and got me to actually notice the TV). That was exquisite. Then a guy did an ice skating routine to Scott Stapp's "Broken", which was not so exquisite. A bit of a buzzkill after hearing my favorite female artist on national TV, actually.
