I've heard theories like he can only use one power at a time, since it's debatable whether he's ever used two at the same time, or that he was so overwhelmed by trying to keep from exploding that he couldn't concentrate enough to fly away.

Maybe. I'm fine with most any explanation that they want to give, but I get frustrated with fantasy-oriented stories like this where they don't make some attempt to show the audience what "the rules" are. They can make up any rules they want as long as they're consistent about following them, and I don't expect to know why everything works, but when it's so pivotal as to necessitate the death of a major character, I'd damn well better be convinced that they thought there was no other way because of a sepcific reason that made sense to those characters at that point in time.

Or Uluru could turn out to be a new villian, perhaps even, "him"?

Oh great, now this show has a "Him" too.

Did anyone else get the DVDs today? I got the collector's edition, or whatever it's called, at Target.

I pre-ordered 'em from Amazon and I hope I get 'em today, 'cause they're a belated birthday present for my wife and that would really cheer up her wek.

I really love the ways the DVDs are formatted, with the deleted scenes and commentary for each episode available right under the as-aired episode. (I had already heard most of the commentaries, but still cool.)

Yes, I vastly prefer the deleted scenes to be available on the discs with the episodes they were supposed to be part of.

Though I did feel that there wasn't a whole lot of extra content on Disc 7. I guess I wanted to see more cast interviews or something. Do any of the cast participate in the commentaries? I haven't listened to those yet.

My wife and I watched the unaired pilot episode the other day. I had a hard time remembering which elements were part of the aired pilot and which weren't, except for Matt Parkman's story (which was retooled and held over for Episode 2), the Muslim terrorist he was hunting down (a story that was scrapped and which eventually morphed into the character of Ted), and the connection between that terrorist and the train explosion that Claire happened across in Odessa. It was really interesting to see where they were thinking of going with these stories, but ultimately, I'm glad that they retooled the pilot and a character or two, and waited until the second episode to introduce a few of those story threads. There was so much going on that there's no way I'd have been able to keep track of it all if this had been my first time ever seeing a Heroes episode.

I forget - was the big reveal with H.R.G. coming home and turning out to be Claire's dad played so obviously in the aired version of the pilot. Because I swear, I was several episodes into the season before I realized that they were the same guy. Maybe I'm just an idjit.

I watched most of the commentaries when they first appeared on nbc.com, and yes, all of them feature cast members. Any of them that feature Jack, Greg, Sendhil, or Leonard are absolutely worth listening too- they are hilarious.

Yeah, for real. I like the unaired pilot and being able to see it was cool, but I like the version that actually aired much better.

Yes, it was. I actually already knew he was her dad from things I had read but it was still awesome. Bennet is my favorite character.

I want to see the special features! I haven't decided if I want to buy the dvd set yet or not though. (right now am trying to buy fewer dvd sets, at least till I catch up watching all the stuff I already have.) I'll just have to netflix or rent them...after I catch up with some other stuff I want to see first.

I remember noticing the HRG-is-Claire's-dad thing like it was a big reveal, but I had been told that "the bad guys are very mysterious". I remember taking note of the glasses when they were pretty much all we could see of "the bad guy". but when I was rewatching with my younger sis, she didn't notice that he was the same guy until I pointed it out.

I'm bummed that (at least according to the Season 2 cast photos that were released) Leonard doesn't appear to be a regular for season two. This doesn't bode well for the possibility of his character's survival.

I wonder if this will be in the special features.

I was surprised in the future episode when Peter showed up with Shannon, but this kind of blows that out of the water.

That sucks! I like DL, and Leonard. Boo. I hope this doesn't mean that Niki and Peter get together even though the bomb didn't happen. I LOVE Five Years Gone, but I didn't like those two together.

So, who else watched the premiere?

I thought it was an interesting start to the season, aside from "super-stalker".

*spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet*

Who do you think the group who killed Kaito is? Some of the former teammates from that generation of heroes? A group that worked against them? There are nine from Kaito's team left alive, if I interpret that comment correctly.

I think it's pretty obvious who Molly's nightmare guy is at this point. And theories about Hiro becoming the hero Kensei may in fact have been correct.

I don't remember Peter meeting anyone with lightning powers last season, am I remembering wrong or did he pick up a new ability somehow? Hopefully this amnesia bout will be more satisfying than Lost.

I'm thinking, that symbol in the drawing, we saw it as the symbol for a new character elsewhere in the episode.

Dude! HRG went all Office Space in this episode.

Dude! Two Alias alums in one show. Except that Sark is now The Lazy Samurai. And he's in the past, so there's only about a .002% chance that he'll turn up in the present and shoot Weiss, just for old times' sake.

Dude! Peter's alive after blowing himself up, but apparently his hard drive was unrecoverable!

Dude! Another guy who can fly! Was that really necessary? I miss Zack.

I thought it was more like he walked on air/flew, which seems a little different from Nathan's power. Speaking of Nathan, I would've liked him to have been a bigger part of this episode. (He's so Jack-Shepard-in-Through the Looking Glass-esque now.)

I miss Zack too. Glad to see Claire's mom and Lyle back though. I was afraid we would have to pretend they never existed either.

Literally. What was up with that grotesque reflection in the mirror?

The funny thing is, with the Haitian around, this show could easily get away with Chuck Cunninghamming a character and never referring to them again.

That was so creepy! I am really anxious for the last four months to be filled in so we can see how things ended up this way. (It reminds me of BSG's season two finale, on a far smaller scale.) I feel really bad for Nathan. I love him. I know everybody loves Peter, but I find him annoying a lot of the time and vastly prefer Nathan.

Where is the Haitian? We haven't seen him in forever.

And similar to BSG Season 3, we're going to be about 1/3 of the way into the season before we get a flashback episode filling in those events.

One thing I wasn't clear on (ONE thing!) was whether Nathan had lost his Senate seat as a result of the drama surrounding his brother's death. He didn't exactly look like Senator material.

Congress... Senate... whatever.

I want to know what powers Kaito and Angela have that they're hiding from us. Unless Angela's power is the almighty bitchslap. Because that was pretty cool.

So as a Southern California native, it's really bugging me that "Costa Verde" doesn't actually exist. Claire lived in a real place before. Every other city/town they've named on this show really exists, as far as I can tell. Why suddenly invent one in SoCal? (It sounds like a portmanteau of "Costa Mesa" and "Palos Verdes", both of which are fairly upscale communities, so I guess we're supposed to get that general image, but then, how are they living there on the salary of a guy who works as a grunt in a Kinko's knockoff? Mr. Muggles must be bringing home some hella sweet prizes from those dog shows.

Good episode, nice to see Peter controlling his powers more, even if he doesn't remember how he got them.

We confirm a little more just how difficult to kill Claire is.

That was awesome - even awesomer than the season premiere.

Hiro is a badass. And Sark healed himself! Or did Hiro heal him? I'm confused either way.

Angela Pitrelli is also a badass; she just doesn't want anyone to know it yet.

Did Claire just leave her severed toe lying around the house for her mom to find? Ewwww.

I heart Mr. Muggles.

I was sure Mr. Muggles was going to eat Claire's severed toe.

I had just caught up with the premiere over the weekend and watched ep 2 just now. it's fun to exclaim "Sark!" I had known he'd be in the show this season but didn't know who he was going to play, so that was fun.

Peter looks better without floppy hair.

Nathan looks like a terrorist.

I knew I had seen the Irish dude in another show before. after puzzling for some time I finally realized he was the pie guy in one of my favorite Monk episodes. "put the pie down and step away. step away from the pie!"

the twins' powers mystify me. ph33r the power of ink eyes.

for the quiz (which was weird) I got told that I am Isaac.

I thought it was a pretty awesome episode. I'm glad to see Mohinder isn't nearly as stupid as he was last season. I know it's so, so unpopular, but I got sick of Hiro in season one and I fear I will again. It's okay to put on the backburner every once in a while, but good Lord, that never happens so I guess I wouldn't know.

Masi Oka has been in every single episode so far, save for Company Man, where young Hiro appeared in HRG's flashback.

Claire is the only character to have been seen in every single episode (played by the same person), I believe.

I love Hiro, but they need to be careful not to overdo his comic hijinx.

Has Isaac ever painted anything that didn't happen?

Anyway, the guy died after one season, but I figure he had to have painted things that would occur over the timespan of the entire series, so you never know, HRG might still have several years to live.

The bomb didn't happen the way he painted it. And he painted Peter dead early on, outside Claire's school. I had thought of something else that either didn't happen or didn't happen the way he had painted it, but I've forgotten it.

Maybe we'll discover a Hero with the power to heal others. Then HRG will die or appear to have been fatally wounded, and someone else will heal him.

Did anyone else notice the couple kissing in the background of that painting? My wife's sharp eye caught that. It looked like Claire (couldn't see her face, but the cheerleader skirt gave it away), and presumably the guy was West.

I noticed Claire in the painting, but I didn't see anything else. Her dad's dead and she's kissing West? That's cold, man. I don't like West. I thought the whole, "Shut up Claire"/flying away to the beach sequence was kind of cheesy.

I do think it's cool that season two has answered one of my biggest questions, can more than one person have the same power? West and Nathan can both fly, and Kensei and Claire can both heal themselves. And since Linderman may not have been the only one with the power to heal, it is possible there's someone else with that power on the show.

I'm glad you thought that was cool; a friend of mine thought they were running out of ideas.

And since Linderman may not have been the only one with the power to heal, it is possible there's someone else with that power on the show.

I thought that about Linderman - I actually wondered whether he could heal himself, but apparently not. I half-expected him to heal himself when D.L. took out a big handful of his brain, but that whole exchange was confusing, because one minute D.L. is dying of a bullet wound, the next he's walking upright like it's only a scratch, then fast-forward to next season and he's dead.

I wonder why they chose to let the D.L. character die - he was one of my favorites, actually. Was he planned to be a one-episode character from the start? Did they simply "run out of story" for him like they did with Simone? Did the actor choose to pursue other interests over the summer, meaning that they had to deal with his death off-screen? Did they know about this before the season finale, which is why they left him in an ambiguous state? I feel a little cheated here, and there's been relatively little noise about this compared to when Simone bit the dust, or when a major player gets bumped off on Lost.

Hmmm. According to HeroesWiki, Linderman and D.L. both had the same first name - "Daniel".

I've been a fan of Hiro but I'm mad at him for duping the stupid princess into thinking that Sark is such a great guy. forcing Sark to be hero would be more amusing if it weren't for that. (I'm sorry I still call him Sark; I can't spell the character's Japanese name and am too lazy to look it up.)

Sylar's "London! France!" bit was definitely among those moments. It was so forced and silly. I half-expected him to blurt out "Underpants!"

It's Takezo Kensei. Though Sark works just fine.

And I think they had to make him somewhat of a doofus, or else they'd get the same backlash that The Last Samurai got - why is it that a white dude hasd to be the one to save Japan? This way, Hiro gets to whip him into shape and be the true hero. Or something.

Hiro deserves to get the girl in this case, though. Then again, that would probably eff up history more than he probably already has. Of course, he could always be his own great-great-great-grandpa or something.

The show definitely bounced back this week. The Mexican Wonder Twins' story just got a whole lot more interesting, West actually had a good line there with Claire, and Micah's cousin has one of the most amusing powers yet. (Bonus: Dana Davis sure is purty.)
