Wasn't sure where to put this topic, but here seemd as good as any since it does relate to music.

A couple times now, I've had dreams where I hear beautiful songs, and then wake up with the melody and lyrics stuck in my head. The thing is, these are songs I have never heard before, and then I look them up and it appears nobody has written them.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I've had this happen to me, although the music isn't always beautiful and the lyrics don't stay in my head after I wake up. it happened to me this morning, actually.
more often, I'll wake up with a snippet of pre-existing music in my head but I won't be able to remember where I had originally heard it. then it will bug me until I can figure it out, if I ever do.

not related to music, but related to this type of dream: intricate and unusual buildings, the likes of which I have never seen in photographs, on screen, or in person, often show up in my dreams. when they do, I'm usually running through them and it seems like I've dreamed that same building before and know where I'm going. after I wake up, and even years later, I still remember many details of the rooms and layout of these weird buildings.

I've had that happen too, I usually look it up and find it fast.

I also first learned there was a Fremont, NY after hearing about it in a dream.

Maybe this should be moved to general discussion, in case we stop talking about specifically music dreams.

Maybe the dream songs that you guys are gonna write will predict the future. Are you sure there aren't any drugs involved?  Wink

It's very rare that dreams inspire me to write something... most of my dreams are just random pastiches of people I know from different sectors of my life or places I've been coming together in incongruous ways, because my brain is sorting through its odds and ends and defragging the hard drive, so to speak.

In terms of how music affects my dreams, if I set an alarm to wake me up to a CD, sometimes I'll fail to wake up and the music will just incorporate itself into my dream (I'll think I'm at a concert or watching a music video on TV or whatever).

Only caffiene, I wouldn't know how to get my hand on any kind bud. Well, I actually would know exactly how to get some. ph34r  Grin

I've had them numerous times. The songs that I dream of are really catchy but not catchy enough to hold onto when I wake up.
