So I run the sound system at our church, and the worship leader has asked me for song suggestions. I don't really have any (I did suggest Undignified as done by DC*B and Take Me In, we did both of those), so I thought I'd turn to you guys. I'm looking for some interesting worship music, preferably some fresh stuff that we most likely haven't done hundreds of times, but also something that would work in a congregational setting.

Thanks.

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Some songs that our church does which I've been enjoying lately are "You Are Good" and "Sing", both by Israel Houghton, and "Beautiful One" by Tim Hughes. "Beautiful Savior" by Stuart Townend is a perennial favorite as well; we sang that one at my wedding because I enjoyed it so much.

Um.. we do all sorts of stuff. From the normal CCM worship, to southern gospel, to hymns and that kind of thing. Mostly a mix of CCM worship songs along with some southern gospel songs that our worship leader has wrote herself. (Which are surprisingly good, actually.)

I do generally like the faster and upbeat songs (Undignified), but we usually do a mix of fast and slow (Take Me In) songs in a service.

In that case... Give these a whirl...from fast to midtempo to slow...

"Hosanna" (Paul Baloche)
"Sing" (Martha Munizzi, Travis Cottrell, and Lakewood Live all have cool versions of this...)
"Turn It Around" (Israel & New Breed)
"Name Above All Names" (Martha Munizzi)
"Salvation Is Here" (United)
"Offering" (Paul Baloche)
"Come Thou Fount, Come Thou King" (Gateway)
"What Can I Do?" (Paul Baloche)
"At the Foot of the Cross" (Kathryn Scott)
"From the Inside Out" (United)
"Here and Now" (Paul Baloche)

Some of these require some skill and lots of practice, particularly "Sing," "Turn It Around," and "Name Above All Names." But they're a blast to sing.

Thanks. Aside from Offering, we haven't done any of those. I'll check them out.

Your prototypical pop/rock worship band spiced up considerably with R&B/Gospel trimmings, thanks to piano wunderkind Justis Kao and the highly unusual existence of a Gospel choir in a mostly Asian church.

Fernando Ortega's "The Breaking of the Dawn" is a solid album, mostly on the more reflective side. It's a fairly seamless mix of new songs and hymns.
