a solid black pair of Crocs flipflops. (I have a red/black pair that I've been wearing almost constantly.)

some Christmas money.

a certificate for a 1 pound box of See's candy.

a bag of assorted pastillas. (which I inadvertantly left with folks I was sharing it with...hopefully they will leave some for me!)

and I also acquired the morning/afternoon off my day job. apparently it was unclear whether we would all have to work today and a lot of folks showed up but then planned to leave early. I could have stuck around but I took off since nobody would be there to care.

What I got for Christmas:

Casino on DVD (from my mom- my VHS copy is pitiful indeed)
Jack from Lost action figure  laugh (from my mom)
(RED) bracelet (from my aunt)
$50 (from my aunt)
$25 Starbucks card (from my grandparents)
$20 Cheddar's gift certificate (from my grandparents)

And yesterday I had to buy a phone card. I hate spending money on phone cards. Boo.

I hope she enjoys them! I re-read that series in honor of the first movie coming out, and it reminded me that I absolutely love those books. Actually, I hated The Last Battle when I read it as a lad, but this time around I really enjoyed it, despite the hints (well, more than hints) of universalism that no doubt trouble theologians who read it.

The Last Battle is my favorite.

acquired today:
tube of Chicken Poop lip balm
pair of jeans (Levi's store has a big sale going on. the belt I bought a couple months ago is now 75% off. wah.)
other clothing items that were marked down a lot.
California burrito from La Salsa. their mango salsa is yum.
strawberry/banana smoothie from Jamba Juice. tasted like the banana was green.  dry

Man, I love See's candy.  My parents grew up in California so they got me hooked, but no one in the south knows what it is!  I acquired a one pound box a few weeks ago.  Yum.

that reminds me, I haven't redeemed the certificate yet. shall do that tomorrow.

where I grew up in the Midwest, the fancy candy place was Fannie May. I still remember learning about sales tax when I tried to buy 4 25-cent chocolate pops from there when I only had a dollar. the lady was nice enough to waive the 2 cent tax but I felt bad.

got a free dessert (again) from the Borders cafe. this time a brownie. and a very good brownie it is. much better than their snickerdoodle.

finished knitting a hat based on the one Mary Jane wore in the first Spider Man movie.

and 28 muffins. the Trader Joe's orange cranberry mix made a dozen but their pumpkin mix made 16. I think I ate 5 of them throughout the day.

Boggle
Christmas candy was 75% off so I got dark chocolate vanilla York peppermint patties and those squashed nougat candies with garish Christmas trees in the center. so ugly but yummy.
and various mundane household items: rechargeable batteries, toilet plunger, a quart-sized Rubbermaid container, and a pancake turner.

I work part time at a local soda/candy manufacturer. when I first started, I didn't want to be overly bold and ask if employees get free drinks (it's the expensive kind that, if you buy a bottle in the store, it's about $1 per bottle). but today I finally acquired the nerve to ask if there is a stash for us. there is, and I consumed two bottles. must watch the sugar intake. the stuff is gooood.

I also acquired a headache. too much Sharpie fumes and flickering fluourescent lights. >_<

Today I had to get some blank tapes and Target had them on sale, 12 for $12. I love Target. They also had Brick on DVD on sale for $9.99, so I had to get it.

Ahh! The Ludens! My mom got a bag for my little brother last week and I couldn't resist grabbing a handful. There's something wrong with me.

Hope you feel much better very soon!

I think I remember those! were the ones in boxes not individually wrapped? for some reason I have a mental image of stuck-together Ludens drops.

I don't think they were. They would all stick together and I'd just eat them all at once.

I see you're one of those who still uses wooden pencils. I'm strictly a mechanical pencil person, myself.

I use both wooden and mechanical.  I would use solely mechanical but I have alot of wooden ones leftover and I am the type of person that likes to use something to completion instead of wasting them.

calendars are on sale at Borders for $4 each so I got one of M.C. Escher's art. last year I waited till February when they were $1, but I'd rather pay $4 now than wait till everything's $1 and find that the one I want is sold out already.
of course, I have a free calendar from work, but I pay way too much attention to calendar pictures and get excessively annoyed at stupid/ugly ones. it's really not worth the annoyance to have to use an ugly calendar, even if it is free.

that sounds like the start of a dumb joke. a salesman walked into a Chinese buffet...

(earlier I was talking about an insurance man at my day job, a soda manufacturing company. if that's what you were referring to.)

I acquired a replacement electric toothbrush and a hair clipper. and I just now noticed that my stuffy nose went away. (to spite my face.)

black cherry cream soda from my place of work. yummmmmmy. I've been waiting months to try it and some finally showed up on the shelf of stuff we can take. also got a pack of chewy ginger candy.

the other day I got a box of yarn, a sweater stone (to remove pills from sweaters), and some Eucalan (for washing handknits and other delicate items). last night while I was looking for a sweater pattern for the yarn I bought, I rediscovered this sweater pattern. which I decided to buy. but that means I need to buy more (different) yarn. ah. I need to live in a place that gets colder weather. I love sweaters too much.
