my little sis just got a 2 gig nano (I think it is...it's not a shuffle). it has a bunch of Disney/kidpop stuff on it so I insisted on putting some of my music that she likes on it. Patty Griffin, Eleni Mandell, U2, Veggie Tales, PotC soundtrack, etc.
Costco has some boxed sets on sale so I got Arrested Development seasons 2 and 3 (they didn't have 1) and Veronica Mars seasons 1 and 2. and a box of freeze dried fruit.
went to Williams-Sonoma and got a little container that holds a cupcake/muffin. you know, like for when you pack a lunch and don't want to risk smushing the cupcake/muffin. what is sadder than a squished cupcake? anyway, I've been using a yogurt container, which doesn't work all that well unless you put the cupcake on the lid and transport the thing upside down. but then what if the lid falls off. so yeah, a cupcake container is just the thing.

If it's not a Shuffle (1gb only), then it's either an old Mini or a Nano. I mistakingly loaded exactly 666 songs on mine... What's weird is my Itunes library has 667... Creepy!!

a few weeks ago my sis thought my ipod (4th generation 20 gig) was so cool. now that she got a nano she's saying mine is so big and fat and ugly. poor thing. I hadn't insulted her new little toy so it bugged me that she couldn't stop insulting what is adequate and works best for me. I don't need a colored screen--I need a greater storage capacity! for me, it still boggles my mind to think that so much music can fit on a cassette-sized object. after I put the bunch of songs on the nano there were 96 on there. she wanted exactly 4 more. I got a crapton of stuff that she might like but she only wanted exactly 100 songs. I don't comprehend this kind of thinking. in other things acquired, I went to Fry's and got a dvd burner and some blank dvd-rs for my dad. this will come in handy for me, too.

I just got a beautiful silicone cover for my beautiful Nano. Now I don't have to worry about scratches... :D Theoretically, my Nano can hold 2k songs @ 128kbps, since I encode everything higher, I'm thinking around 1500 songs... Not bad, about 100 albums on a thumb sized object.

I love my 5G Black 30GB. I'm thinking about selling it though, and picking up a 60 or 80GB white. I can only fit about half of my library on my current iPod

I have a 20GB and about 42GB of music on my computer. I'm probably going to upgrade to the 80GB next month and give mine to my wife. On topic, I bought two pair of jeans at Gap for $10 each.

I can't fit all my music onto my iPod, so I just pick and choose my favorite songs to put on it. That way, I don't have to skip songs I don't like, and I have more than enough room to keep putting music on it.
Edit: ON TOPIC I bought a Rockstar energy drink after my first class today because I didn't think I would make it through my next two classes without some sort of caffeine in my blood. Oh, and AAA batteries for my calculator.

My mom thinks I have some sort of phobia about my hands because I wash them so much, but really I just love hand soap and buying it. I guess I'm a little paranoid about my hands being clean, working in a nursing home and all, but I'm just as bad at home as I am at work. I'm a hand soap dork.

Jess, I hear ya . . . we have that Purell sanitizer stuff in our dorm room and I swear I wash and otherwise sanitize my hands (and spray that Clorox stuff) about 4987923 times a day. That's probably a lot less healthy than I think it is, but hey . . . at least it assuages my germaphobia somewhat. anyways . . . about a ream of paper's worth of biology and humanities notes for exams next week. Oh, joy.

there's a certain kind of hand soap that some public restrooms have. it's so strong-smelling that I've wanted to start carrying around a small bottle of my own hand soap. but of course I never remember. my current favorite soap is an oatmeal/honey bar from Trader Joe's. I got some of their orange blossom honey hand soap but it's wayyyyyy too strong-smelling. but I still feel compelled to use it up before buying something different. Walmart's vanilla sugar hand soap was nice. lots cheaper than Bath and Body Works stuff. (I don't really buy their stuff but I do love the warm vanilla sugar hand cream.)
let's see, what did I recently acquire. groceries. Hebrew National hot dogs are yum. also got some tax papers from my places of work. guess that means I don't have a good excuse for procrastinating on doing my taxes.

I keep a bottle of Purell in my bag for when I go out. I've also thought about bringing my own soap to work, because we have foaming soap and I HATE it. Dove is my favorite because of the moisturizer in it. I also like the Soft Soap with shea butter and moisture beads, but I haven't had any in a while. I bought a big refill bottle of regular Soft Soap so I feel obligated to use that until it runs out, but the Dove was on sale and I couldn't resist.

Meh, Simpson's Rule is one of those things you learn before you learn how to do it the real way. If you know the function, you just take the integral (or a numerical approximation, if it can't be integrated symbolically). If the function is unknown you can approximate it in many different ways. For some functions you might need Simpson's Rule, but I myself have never used it except in class problems where the instructions clearly say "solve using Simpson's Rule".

Oh I know the real way. But quadratures are the only way of evaluating non-elementary functions. For example, the integral of e^(x^2)dx. A definite integral, as you know, cannot be found, but it can be approximated.

Until the end of May (the wedding is June 8th). He came home for Christmas for two and a half weeks, so that was really great. And I'm going to go spend just over two weeks in Europe with him in March, so that definitely helps to break up the time. It's been a learning experience, that's for sure, but a good one.
